This made me feel a lot of ways. Bad for him for his mom, mad at Babcock again, unsurprised that Kindl still doesn’t seem to get why it didn’t work, proud we had Cheli when we did, and bummed we never got to have Jagr in a Winged Wheel.
But out of all of them, holy shit did Babcock fuck the entire team up in the long-run, and Ken’s dumb ass still has no idea why. I just wonder what so many of our failed prospects think of him…Ouellet, Sproul, Mursak, Kindl, Smith….

Damn, dude. We are obviously limited by our own perspective, but his perspective sounds reasonable, and I think we all agree that Babcock hurt his development. But there was more under the surface than just “high draft pick who didn’t pan out”. I respect his attitude and I always thought he was better than he got credit for. I could see the potential and it was frustrating for me too, seeing him as a healthy scratch for any slight mistake. But even if he didn’t win a Cup himself or replace Lidstrom or Kronwall, he still accomplished more than a lot of aspiring pro athletes.

This is unexpectedly fantastic. And fuck not only Babcock, but Holland for letting this type of bullshit go on for so long. The mishandling of our prospects between 2010 and 2020 is downright embarrassing.
