I mean, there’s the ‘96 red wings vs. avs conference finals- 18 fighting majors and 148 penalty minutes in one game ain’t bad…

  2. Nismotech_52

Everyone (myself included) remembers staying up and watching the redwings/avalanche 97 game towards the playoffs

  3. Philhughes_85

I don’t know much about hockey but they made a joke about the 1976 Flyers in The Simpsons. So maybe the playoffs against the Canadiens from that year?

  4. Duffman_O_Yeah

Nothing tops Detroit and Colorado in 96 when Chris Draper literally almost lost his whole face

  5. Toiletboy4

I cannot remember any specific year or playoff run or anything but I would just default to Tom Wilson vs the Bruins

Wings/Avs is defintely the big answer here.

Speaking from one I personally remember, Isles/Leafs in 2002 was pretty rough, a lot of dirty garbage and hard hitting (There’s a whole ass highlight reel of Steve Webb from that series).

  7. Round 1 Toronto islanders 2002. That’s series got nasty

  8. The 2003 final between Anaheim and New Jersey was an amazing watch

  9. Complete_File_852

Since the best ones are already taken – not a series but that game one 1st round of florida/tampa a few years back was amazing

    96 Detroit/Colorado is the answer.

But since most people already said that, I’ll go with 2011 Bos/Vancouver SCF.

That series had ALMOST as much hatred as DET/COL.

Islanders leafs from 02. Cheap shots and dirty play galore.

  12. BuddyCleveland

2004 Leafs and Sens, Round 1 of the Playoffs. Huge hits on both teams, what a series

  13. LumbaJ4cked

In more modern time a series many forgot is the 2014 playoff 1st round between Sharks and Kings, San Jose steamrolled Kings game 1, 2 and won game 3 in OT. From there LA bounced back completing a reverse sweep but the amount of hits per game was brutally high some had a total far over 100 hits

  14. Hot-Zombie896

Kings/Mapleleafs. ’93…Gretzky,Robitaille and a handful of HOF’ers….Gilmour,Clark and more..7 games WCF.Still considered one of the best playoffs series.

Dude ive been been watching every highlight from every stanley cup finals as well. Im at 2010 right now

  16. Straight-Plate-5256

Michael ferland was a wrecking ball against Vancouver in 2015, absolute menace

  17. Markussh98

Since Avs/Wings have been mentioned a lot a random one from recent memory was Preds vs Wings in 2012 when the Preds game plan was to run the wings through the boards all series. Which included Shea Webers infamous turnbuckle hit on Zetterberg.

Didn’t Brent Johnson literally punch Rick Dipietro in the mouth and that was the injury he never came back from?

  19. HMTMKMKM95

Flames- Oliers in ’91. There were some absolutely destructive hits in that series.

  20. Any world junior canada game where jordon tootoo was playing. I remember him and his line just absolutely trying to destroy people

  21. CouchSurfer94

Didn’t see it but I imagine the finals in 79-80 between the Isles and Flyers was brutal.

  22. Go back and watch the Habs vs. the Nords. In the 80s. Edmonton and Calgary from the same time frame would be a good choice too. The Canadiens and Nordiques series were absolute war.

  23. Whenever Brenden Morrow wrecked Milan Michalek. That was a tight game and everyone was trying to murder everyone. 2008

  24. Mikey_5386

Wings Avs 96. Runner up Devils Ducks SCF 2003

  25. Silent-Obligation-49

Nothing beats old school hockey. It was an actual war. Half the players in the league now would quit after one season lol.

  26. AustrianArtDropout

Krug going cross ice to bury anyone he saw wearing a Blues jersey in the 2019 playoffs game 4 after being fucked with for 10 straight mins without a penalty being called.

  27. Old_Ironside_1959

IIRC… the last two time’s the Penguins and Flyers met in the playoffs (2012 and 2018) were the most physical series in recent NHL history in my opinion.

  28. Wardman66

When Jim schoenfeld of the Sabers slammed, I believe Cashman of the Bruins, right through the Zamboni door
