Today I react to Darren Dreger’s tweet regarding the Edmonton Oilers interest in a Nikita Zaitsev trade, and discuss why the Oilers could profit from such a move. Let me know your thoughts on a potential Zaitsev trade in the comments below!

Trade Larson for him
Eh I don’t know what we would trade for him (before watching video)
hahah Please trade for him I would littearly take a 5th round pick lol but knowing edmaton they would probably give us evan bouchard
I want Nylander
I don't think a prospect is bad they don't think he fits save a pick.
Zaitzev is terrible
I hope to god the oilers don’t get zaitsev. He doesn’t produce points, he’s horribly defensively, that contract good god it’s awful. But how fitting considering it’s holland he likes the bad contracts
Don't do it the leafs need to be in cap hell for the next 5 years
The only way I'd be ok with it is if they can get Zeitsev for cheap and flip him for a profit. If Zeitsev is on the roster next year, that's gotta be a failure in my eye.
God damn, I hope this doesn't happen. All we need is another failed bottom pairing D. Didn't we get our fill from Grebeshkov? Reinhart? Belov? Cam Barker? Manning? Petrovic? Fistric? Ference? Auvitu? Aulie? Sutton? Clendenning? Fayne? Oy. Just off the top of my head
Get Russell to waive his NMC
Dunno why they would ever take manning. They need to clear cap space, not stay the same. Zaitsev leaves Toronto for picks and prospects.
Hype!!
Polite pass for me. We don’t need more overpaid d men
Hey how about Mikhail Sergachev instead
It does the oilers absolutely no good if to save money or reduce cap if at the end of the day you wind up with a whole lotta "turkeys" and unless we have these trades confirmed its a mess we niether want or need , as it stands we are almost going to need some kind of divine intervention to escape the present situation without mortal wounding taking place. The saddest part is all the sweetners we have to consider to make anything fly from a trading stand point to ease some of the pain we have to inflict more pain a lose lose senario.
No
Good video
Keep it up
Zaitsev will not be an oiler, if we had chia we would trade nurse and a 1st for him.
Making some true business sense. Knowing a thing about rescuing poorly managed businesses, this is how you turn assets into opportunity to get what the team really needs.
Sorry that trade doesn't happen. Why would the Leafs want to give up Connor Brown when they could just trade Zaitsev for a pick and keep Brown. I get the cap issues, but honestly, I rather have Ehlers than Brown. So package Russell with Puljujarvi for Ehlers. And throw in a 3rd or 4th if you must.
Then Package Larsson and Lucic and 1st to Montreal for Suzuki and Gallagher.
Buyout Sekera.
And sign McElhinney *
Elliott as a backup in case you can't sign McElhimney (Cap Friendly)
Draisitl McDavid Ehlers
Nygard RNH Kassian
Benson Gagner Gallagher
Khaira Cave Chassion
Klefbom Bouchard
Nurse Jones
Persson Benning
Koskinen
McElhinney
I know the backend leaves a little to be desired, but under Tippett, the team will find structure and overall team defence. Unless you keep Larsson and throw in Samroukov or Bear with the 1st and Lucic of course.
Zastiev good 3rd pair that can spot here and there in the 2nd pair. Good skater average puck mover.
Daniel Nugent bouman from the athletic on Larsson
Adam Larsson
It doesn’t appear the Oilers are eager to ship out Larsson, the best right-handed defenceman presently in the organization. For what it’s worth, new coach Dave Tippett identified the 26-year-old as a member of the team’s core at a season-ticket holders’ function last Thursday. But Larsson is coming off a down season, which was particularly evident when he played without Klefbom. (He was openly critical of his performance before Klefbom’s return from injury.)
Larsson was the subject of trade rumours before the deadline just a few months ago. He’d certainly garner plenty of interest from other teams now because of his right-handiness, ability to play against strong competition and manageable $4.17-million AAV for two more seasons. The Oilers need help up front and could demand a useful forward for Larsson. They have at least three defencemen knocking on the NHL door that are capable of playing on the right side in Persson, Jones and Bouchard. But since the Oilers are thin on the right side at the big-league level, they’d be smart to have a few trade or free agent options at the ready before considering moving Larsson.
Connor Brown for Lucic sounds like a deal Babs would drool over
