Wait, NHL is continuing to scaledown and downgrade the World Cup they promised as a the ONLY "compromise" from pulling the Olympics they already promised the players is an absolute shocker. No one would have ever predicted this. This was definitely wasnt immediately predicted by everyone as the exact thing they were planning on doing.

Lindholm will be 29 when his contract is up. Top 6 center who's scord 40 and gets selke votes. This is his big chance to cash in, I'd be mighty surprised if he'd accept a 2 year deal. In fact, anything less than a 60 million dollar contract would shock me (unless he falls off a cliff this season).

these guys finally realized 99% of teams are capped out and have their own messes to deal with…only 32 teams to play on in this 'top' league in north america-perhaps they can try their luck back overseas…you know money is always greener….elsewhere.

I think Babcock asking to see players photos on their phones is a little weird and yes i do agree that he should be watched because he does have that reputation, but to blow it up and make a big deal if hes caught bitching at a player for having a bad shift or making a dumb play, thats down right ridiculous. One of the main reasons why the NHL and its players are so soft nowadays is because coaches arent allowed to be the hard asses that they used to be. Everyone gets offended by every little thing nowadays and next thing you know its all over the mainstream/social media as abuse. Give me a break….when i was 14 my coach was as hard on us as they are in today's NHL and these guys are being payed millions of dollars to represent a city and a pro sports team. Some of these guys need their chain jerked instead of worrying about who is gonna get the biggest contract, they need to worry about winning.
How can a league that hasn't even started yet have a draft?

I've never heard that the NBA is making any kind of money from allowing player to go to the Olympics. Maybe they do and I just can't find anything about it online. If they can't pry money out of the IOC, why does the NHL think they can?

Calgary's FAs saying theyd stay doesnt mean much. If they want to stay, let's see it in ink. It seems likely to me that they would re sign but want to be overpaid to compensate for the risk of the team staying bad

As a NJ fan, the goalie carousel is just mind boggling.
Bringing back Kinkaid as a 3rd stringer makes no sense. Keith is s tweener and barely a viable backup. If NJs plan was just rolling with a borderline backup they just should've kept Wedgewood instead of dumping him for nothing 2 seasons ago.
Daws is out indefinitely with a torn hip so this solidifies the AHL club with Keith penciled in and the Utica starter.
Would rather see NJ go all in and solidify the position instead of simply running it back with the squad that imploded in the playoffs.
It would be nice for the Leafs to pick up one of the Flames D next year like Zadorov Tanev or Kylington once Brodie leaves

As a flames fan it's very frustrating that nothing got dealt with this off-season. All the guys aren't committing, and Conroy is too nice/doesn't have the balls to pull the trigger.
