This game was so long i fell asleep during the 3rd, woke up in the middle of the night, and it was still going. I woke up just in time to see it end lol.
No dog in that fight but the game was called for the Hurricanes from start to finish. That goalie interference was pathetic. The contact was partially induced by the defenseman, and had no bearing on the goal as the Panther was out of the crease and gone before the shot was even taken. The goalie's own momentum was to the wrong side of the net. And that cross check leading to the 5 on 3 goal? Please! That one happens in every scrum.
My brother isn’t a big hockey fan but he asked me who was playing tonight when I was watching the game and then he went out to the bar. when he got home from the bar drunk he said oh are they replaying the game? I just laughed and said get the fuck out of here.
Epic game! Not sure why it would be surprising for Florida to go “toe to toe” with the Canes at this point? The cats took down the Bruins & the Leafs. This team is legit right now. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if they hoist.
That Overtime Exposed Hurricanes real bad. It showed Brent Burns is the workhorse, Tkachuk scoring felt like a Thanos, I'll do it myself moment. Had the Canes took the lost, they could of made some changes next game, but they laid it all out Game 1.
Go back and watch the play leading up to the goal again. After in the panel, Ron McLean thought it his the refs skate. They watched it again a couple of times and noticed something.
It didn't hit the skate of the ref. The boards are always taken in and out for various other events (concerts, other sports, etc.) in almost all NHL arenas. The puck was going up the boards on the ice. Then it kind of stopped and shot straight backwards (almost the exact way it came), and that's why it got to Tkachuk. What it hit was the spot where the 2 pieces if the boards connect when put back together. They move around here and just from everything going on the sometimes get a miniscule gap at times. It doesn't stay that way all the time, it does it and closes up, and then another time it does it again here and there..
Just like this, look where the Zamboni's drive off the ice. The visitor's always start the game at that end, this way they get 2 periods there. This gets done on purpose, as there are always a bunch of tiny bumps and thw ice isn't as smooth there as the rest of the ice surface. It's because there is a bit of excess water on blades and other parts of the Zamboni when it drives off the ice, the bumping of going over the ledge to leave knocks that off.
Take a look at the ice yourself next time you go skating around or play a game, you should see it easily.
