My 2 cents is Matheson speaks french, which might have been a big factor in him getting the A. Need one francophone to talk to the french media.
Gallagher and Matheson are perfect alternates, Suzuki is the cap probably until he retires.
Giving the A’s and C’s to your best players is boring and predictable, if anything when and if Caufield gets an A in a few years it will be when he deserves it, not simply because he is one of the faces of the franchise.
That’s how you reward character, not by serving it on a silver platter.

The mistake in Maillouxs case was trusting anything coming out from Renaud Nono Lavoie
Guhle and Dach will be future Alternates when the time comes.
Disappointed but what can you do they are stuck with Gallagar . 4 more years. Might as well make use of him but he is so injury prone I can't see him playing more then 35 games.
I like Gallagher as an A, his leadership by example is something a lot of teams could use on a run, problem is the salary but I suspect retaining 1.5M~ will get a deal done. He could be an awesome addition to a team that's already pretty stacked. If we retain while taking back a bad short term contract, we could actually get a solid return imo. I think people over estimate how untradeable he is, all it takes is one team to make it happen. If a team like LA who just gutted their middle six is doing great come deadline, watch out. He could be moved. The return due to the aforementioned retaining and bad contract will be good still imo. Kent Hughes isn't Bergevin, he's far more competent due to his experience as an agent, and Rob Blake to be quite honest seems like a chump he could exploit to get a deal done.
Reinbacher has the opportunity to play in the swiss league under a great coach and he will get to play minutes over there and develop his cardio. It's not a bad move.
IF he gets a conditioning coach and regular visits from mtl.
I'd send somebody NOT named logan mailloux WITH reinbacker.
I see Caufield not getting(yet) A as no problem, no disrespect to him. I think they want him to focus on one thing and that is goal scoring.
That time A is solving problems, he can use to catch a breath, clear his head, focus, consult play with coaches.
About Mailloux, I hope everyone will get the lesson: Renaud Lavoie should be ignored.
Renaud Lavoie is not a serious journalist, is a joke so when he said that Mailloux have the ok of Bettman. I didn't believe it was true.

If you followed the Matheson acquisition Hughes was raving about what a good person he is so I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't the captain let alone assistant.
I personally don't feel Nick is a captain who needs to stand up for his team and teammates I find him to be too quiet.
Having said that it sure seemed odd that Jamie Benn's downfall coincided with the year he was named captain of Dallas.On a positive note I think Gallagher is going to surprise some people this year albeit he is headed on the down swing but getting 2 shots a game I see him scoring some goals.
Everyone is way over hyping Reinbacher he is NOT a Chris Chelios or a young PK he doesn't have the quickness or flash I see him being more of a Vladimir Malahkov but not among the upper echelon of impact D men.Hutson is the guy that has at least on paper to be the true impact D we need a quarterback to lead rushes and make smart passes not Reinbacher.I will repeat what I said at the draft we did NOT need Reinbacher to improve the team <<<keyword TEAM we needed forwards and no not Newhook type forwards we need HQ forwards.
Reinbacher needs to seriously beef up.

Gerry Fleming Jesse! He played for Montreal before. This is the second video where you called him Garry. They aren't going to be ready to compete for another 2 to 3 years. They could be contending in another 2 years, as in, look at my shiney new toy in the playoffs with them making the playoffs this year, or next. They will have so many assets that they might be able to take their pick with a team that is a little further behind in a rebuild that needs a couple of d-assets that will play in the NHL, for that coveted 30-40 goal scorer. In otherwords, Montreal's pro-scouts will have a job to do this year.
Reinbacher returning to the Swiss League is neither shocking or surprising, and was likely not a tough decision. Physically he is not yet a Man, so he is not ready to deal with AHL headhunters, so the Swiss League is a better place for his development. What would be nice is if the Habs could wield some influence and have him traded to a competitive club in the Swiss League. I don't expect to see him play in North America these next two seasons, and I don't expect him to be a regular on the 1st or 2nd pairing for 5 seasons. For a comparison study the development curve of Guhle and Sergachev…and let's be patient.
Matheson is from Montreal, older, bilingual, plays huge minutes, etc. Lol and for Caufield having an A. Personally I've never been a fan of unidimensional players like snippers to have a letter. And don't say Ovy lol he's a sniper bit he can also play physical, and he is also a living legend lol
