Lack of urgency in his game, which isn't neccasarily a bad thing for a defenseman. Also some risky manuevers at the blue line which wont fly in the big show. I can understand why the Av's might have looked elsewhere.

Atheletic ability yea sure. But great white athletes usually succeed on smarts anyway. Which is why Whites have dominated the QB possition. Dude the NBA is a hip hop league. Once upon a time Larry Bird ran that league , before him John havlicek, there were plenty of white decent athletes who were dominant in the NBA. during the late 80's and 90's it turned into a HIP HOP league! leading blacks to focus on basketball more than anything cause u can play it inj the street more than any other sport. His play during the sequence between 2:50 and 3:00 is EXTREMELY impressive.
Perfect 2 on 1, quick move to get it out of the zone after calling for the pass, immediate drop pass when he sees pressure coming then immediately a give and go after he takes the hit. Really impressive stuff in a 10 second span.
Is he a good defenseman? Yes, he is. Was that a good play? Yes, it was. Was that EXREMELY impressive? No, it wasn't. Does he deserve to be a top 5 pick? Honestly, It's definitely debatable. Jones has incredible reach and fairly solid vision. The biggest weakness in his game(which was exposed BADLY by Nathan Mackinnon in the Junior Worlds as well as the Memorial), is his speed. It will be interesting to see how he does when every player he goes up against, has wheels like Mackinnon and Drouin.
