A fun night at the arena. I could have done without all the penalties though. The eight goals scored by the Jackets were the first time they tallied eight goals at home since November 12, 2016 in an 8-4 win over St. Louis, some 231 home games ago. The last time the jackets scored seven goals in any game was the 7-3 win over Tampa Bay to close out the series sweep in April 2019, some 69 home games ago. The Jackets are much better this year, but how much better? Only time will tell. it's essential they avoid the injury bug as much as possible. Anyone need a magnetic 2021-22 Blue Jackets schedule? I've got about 30 of them. They were giving them away at the game tonight. P.S.- in case you're wondering, the 10-0 win over Montreal happened eight days before the win over St. Louis
Coming into the arena and watching the warmups, seeing #80 Kivlenieks name on the back of a jersey of a goalie skating around on the ice gave me chills and it took me a brief moment to realize of course it was Elvis. Then wearing 80 with Elvis' own name on the back, was yet another piece of the healing and honoring process I think. The atmosphere all night was one of a mix of celebration and happiness to be back as well as always feeling the solemnity of what was being played for. Incredible evening.
