Lidstrom plays God for 13 seconds during the Stanley Cup Finals
He scores the game-winner with an absolute bullet slap shot that destroys the camera, then makes a brilliant 100-foot pass to Draper for the insurance goal
Bullshit. Don't get me wrong I like Lidstrom better than Chara but Chara was better defensively than Lids. LInds is 2nd or 3rd best alltime dman I give him that but he was not a better shut down guy than Chara.
I disagree and I think most people would too. Chara is obviously more physical and you're not going to go through him, but Lidstrom's positioning and play with his stick was so great, definitely better than anyone in this generation's. And he did it for 20 years.
"Lidstrom has played in over 1564 games missing only 17 games since 1991 while tallying 1142 points. He has been nominated for ten Norris trophies winning seven of them and a Conn Smythe to go with his four Stanley Cups. I understand he is does not have that physical presence as Chara but his awareness is second to none. Lidstrom makes an art of containing players as oppose to destroying them. The puck may go by him but the player will not and he perfected the “brains before brawns” tactic."
The Hurricanes ruined the playoffs that year, should have been a Leafs vs Habs conference final, but Canes got home ice advantage for winning an awful division
There debate over Lidstrom or Bobby Orr is silly. Anyone who says one is miles better than the other is just dense. I'd take Lidstrom first, but to be more specific, out of 1,000 drafts I'd pick Lidstrom first 501 times to Orr 499. It's that close.
Meh. I'd rather watch his first and only career hat trick in is last or second to last season. I think Z fed him the puck for an open goal with seconds left in the game to get it for him.

Chara is a good defenseman with his shot, size, and reach. Why so much hate?

Lidstrom played God for 20 years.
Lidstrom is the best defenceman ever.
With all those HOF'ers on 1 team who took home the Conn Smythe?….#5
I dunno Chara was shakey during the playoffs and at no time in his career was lidstrom shakey
Brings back great memories!

Unbelievable sauce. Lidstrom is a such a beauty.
Lol carolina was all excited that they might take the series
They don't call two-line passes in the NHL anymore?
That sauce on the second goals. Wow!
Glad I got to grow up loving hockey and this being my home team. Going to the Joe, all the cups.
'Lidstrom plays God for 13 seconds' I though Lidstrom was already a God?
God created the universe and Lidstrom. how is one goal and one assist in a hockey game on par? it isn't. that's how.
what a sauce!!!
What a shot by Draper top corner! What a beaut!
draper with the glitch shot
Lidström > god.
One of the most beautiful saucer in the history
I like a little sauce with my wings

Nick Lidstrom doesn't play God… God plays Nick Lidstrom.
IRBE ;(
*lidstrom plays god for over 20 years
Nick Lidstrom, to me is the best Dman ever with Paul Coffey 2nd.
As good as he was, and appreciated as he is throughout the hockey world, he's criminally underrated. The most valuable hockey player between 95-2010.

That pass was absolutely disgusting
100 foot pass? hahahahhahahahahaha You must use a different ruler than the rest of the world. The blue lines are 50 feet apart Einstein.
His Red Wing teammates called him The Perfect Human. Isn't that enough?

Look at that absolutely beautiful saucer …..
What a player and what a team…!
