Worst thing for the Flyers is they have to just sit and watch and have virtually no control and minimal contact with Michkov during the KHL season

Can y'all be patient and maybe wait a few weeks or months. SKA has shown no fear to play young players in important roles.
They traded out 9 players for a 20 year old defenseman, Alexander Nikishin last summer and immediately made him their #1 defenseman and he broke Kaprizov's point record for a player under 22 years old in the KHL.
Ivan Demidov, projected top 3 in 2024 has gotten significant icetime playing on 3rd linein the first two games this season despite initially being their 13th F.
Sergei Ivanov, drafted by Columbus last summer just put up a shutout earlier today as a 19 year old goalie.
Yes it sucks Michkov didn't make the roster immediately but it's incredibly tough to make the top of the lineup as a teenager for what is arguably the best team in the KHL. They probably rather wait until a top 6 role opens up so he can really flourish rather than have him playing a depth role. But we need to wait a while longer to see what the plan really is, still far too early in the season to get the pitch forks out. Michkov will be fine I'm sure.

It’s just a weird situation. Because it’s not like SKA doesn’t play young guys: they traded for a 20 year old Alexander Nikishin and are playing him as their 1D.
It definitely feels like they’re upset at him for some reason, maybe his eagerness to leave for the NHL?

The hockey world cannot possibly be this ignorant towards politics. Russian players are bad buisness on so many levels and from so many different perspectives. Philly is getting a dose of reality. Real world issues are bigger than hockey.

Did you really think the KHL would actually try to develop him?? They know he is going to the NHL as soon as possible so they are just going to control him and halt any development. This is the reason why any Russian player that is growing up in Russia should be advised by agents that signing deals with the KHL is not recommended and they should point to Michkov as evidence. I am a Blue Jackets fan and this same team did the same thing to Kirill Marchenko when he refused to sign an extension in the KHL. They just scratched him bc they weren’t going to develop him if he is going to leave. They must just figure to start early with him and just force him to sign an extension in order to play.
They played Galchenyuk but not Michkov, I would be so insulted if I were him lol

Philly Hockey Now had a post about how the IIHF ruled that Fedotov couldn't play in the KHL until January 1st and then the league went against the ruling and he was playing there. Someone in the comments mentioned that if the KHL wouldn't abide by that ruling then the NHL shouldn't worry about KHL contract statuses and the Flyers should just bring Michkov across despite his contract status (along with any other family members who have yet to die under suspicious circumstances), as should any team that drafts Demidov or any other Russian players.
They don't want to the KHL is childish and don't like helping players develop that are clearly dipping to the NHL would rather invest in player that wanna stick around not saying Russia or the KHL is bad but they like to play a questionable game

Wasn't this a fear? Michkov would be benched until he signed a long, long-term extension with the KHL? Flyers can't do anything but twiddle thumbs while Michkov atrophies in the KHL. Glad my Sharks passed on him.
This is a problem that will come back to bite the Russians in their ass. It's incredibely hard to do bussines with a country where the rule of law doesn't apply. In the end, this will hurt the quality of Russian players, consequently the national team won't win as much etc… As a Czech, I must admit that the best player development isn't in found Europe, it's overseas. If the Russians won't let their best players play with and against the best competition from all over the world, the quality of said players will decrease.

The dude has no work ethic either. There's plenty of stories out there of him dogging it and behavior issues. In the KHL they don't mess around with training camp. I'm honestly not surprised he is a healthy scratch.

It's probably because of his attitude. It was reported he had attitude issues before the draft. I'd assume it's a teen being a cocky asshole because he was drafted top 10 over putin wanting to stick it to America lol
