I've been saying for years that McDavid will come home to play for his beloved Leafs the first chance he gets. He'll get at least 1 year playing with Matthews as a teammate.
Ok guys he has 3 years left lots of time on what will happen.
This is only a story because he put his own foot in his mouth and relised what he said and tried to correct himself.
The problem in Edmonton is in there net not winning a cup with those goalies.
But at the end of three years if he came to Toronto I be happy af with that I just don't think Edmonton will let him go personally
i think he was just being completely honest, 3 years down the road is a long time away and he'll be 29, of course he should wait to see how he feels in a couple years. Remember, the Oilers management has mostly let McDavid down since drafting him. I wouldnt commit either, gotta wait to see where the team is headed. Plus, if im him, i want to play some prime years in the States, if he went to the Rangers, think of how big his Star would rise and also the game of hockey in general. Not to mention how much more money he would make in endorsements!!

McDavid will be a Leaf in 2026. With the cap at 92 million and a possible hometown discount on the Tavares extension, he and Marner should get done for 21 million between them like it is now. That leaves room to bring in Connor McDavid at 15 million per over 7 years. The Toronto market is where he should finish his career. I'm hedging a bet on a Oilers-Leafs Stanley Cup final this year, they are both ready to break through. 🎯

Mark Spector is a dick who loves to create controversy. Of course McDavid is going to say he may or may not be here past his contract. Ken Holland is probably on his way out in the near future as Edmonton's GM. It's not because he's bad; he's almost 70. What Holland and a new GM does has much to do with if McDavid would want to stay or not. Draisaitl is his "ride of die" according to McDavid. Drai next summer will probably get an extension of $12.5 million for eight seasons. The Matthews contract was $2 million higher than he's worth, so you never know what Draisaitl, who is a better player than Matthews, might do. If the cap is going up the way it's rumoured to be, Drai can get his $12.5 million and McDavid can go to $14.5 million for eight seasons. But Drai and McDavid was going to either both stay or both go. It's easier for them if they both stay.

Just an aside. Lauren Kyle (Connor's fiancé) opened her office in a prime location in Edmonton. She's an interior designer. She's opening her business HERE. It's not just him. It's them. Can she move her business? Yes, she can. I think it really comes down to how things go. If her business is successful it will be harder for her to move and I can't think a long distance relationship (and lets be candid, EVERYWHERE is Long Distance from Edmonton, I live here) will work. Honestly we'll see when we see.
