Val Nichushkin Emerges, and We Have Questions. Joonas Donskoi Hangs ‘Em Up. Ways to Grow the Game

It’s been a tumultuous but at the same time quiet offseason for Val Nichushkin. With how his season ended in Seattle, a lot of Colorado Avalanche fans had a lot of questions. They might have even more after Nichushkin posted two images of himself on Instagram. Sporting the Avalanche championship ring, and a gun. Bad optics? Or no big deal?

We also congratulate Joonas Donskoi who announced he will be retiring from the NHL following issues with concussions. While his time in Colorado was not that long, he was a fan favorite and someone who was very easy to root for.

Finally, we get to some suggestions The Athletic have for ways the NHL can grow the game by looking at what other sports are doing and adopting it.

  1. I mean according to the nhl whatever happened with nichushkin is a non issue and the Avs handled it appropriately. Now I’m not saying we can take the nhls word on anything, but, considering seattle is a commie hot spot and Russians are attempting to leave that country in droves due to the fact it’s run by a ruthless dictator I have some theories on what might’ve happened to lead that woman to nichushkins room. Vally is happily married and a clear russian dissident. His wife hasn’t posted to sm and has remained mum, she’s also a russian athlete. I mean you’re looking at a possible international incident. This isn’t some scrub goalie they sent to Siberia for “mandatory military service” this is a famous athlete residing in a democrat (read:socialist/communist/fascist) controlled state.

There are NO “optics” involved in him taking a picture with a gun. If he likes guns fine. Did ANY part of the incident in seattle involve a gun? It didn’t? So then the fact he was holding a gun is ENTIRELY irrelevant to what happened in seattle. People are allowed to bare arms. It’s literally so important to the fabric of America that they put it after free speech and freedom of assembly. (January 6th.) you don’t get to persecute someone bc they like guns. Particularly not in this situation.

  2. Coach Bedsy, "Valerie Jedediah Nichushkin go to your room!" The don't push send presser should be mandatory viewing every year. Bonus, you burden every member of the organization with questions about your behavior. "Say it out loud" also a good practice. Every lil bit helps when you've got children. Sorry to dump. Great stuff as always fellas!

  3. If the Seattle thing never happened then I wouldn't care about this but not a brilliant move. I still will root for him.
