The Habs are going through a rebuild and doing a good job of adding draft picks and young assets along the way.

Vive le Canadien de Montréal!
Was waiting for this one!
Good luck Canadiens
Worth noting that they have a whole new medical team now in response to how banged up they were last year. Not an on-ice move, but one that could definitely help them get some momentum going. I think they'll keep things interesting but I'm not prepared to clear my schedule for May and June just yet.
I could see them doing a ”new jersey” but maybe in a year or two rather than this season
I don’t see Montreal missing 3 years in a row. Next summer lots of cap space lots of kids in their 3rd years. I think Montreal grabs Wild Card spot
It's interesting how these rebuilding years have somehow been way more fun to watch than whatever the hell was happening under Bergevin.
Hoping for better days ahead for the Habs. With so many teams ahead of them in the standings vying for a spot in the playoff bubble and making improvements, it's hard to say how many more points they can hope for, unless one of those other teams implodes. Who would those extra wins come against? They really need to embrace their team's tradition and get a new rockstar goalie to get out of the division basement.
I think the habs will be in the playoff hunt until the all star break and will drop off with teams making playoff runs
Very excited to watch Slafkovsky this season, if he stays healthy and plays with Monahan and Newhook (or Gallagher?) I think that line could be deadly.
As an over 50 years Habs fan I can appreciate this rebuild. I get it they had to do it but you can't keep being in a constant rebuild. In a year or two they need to start and show some results. As for Slafkofsky, I still believe he is going to turn out to be another Doug Wickenheiser? There is a name that a lot of the younger fans have never heard of. A huge BUST!!!! The Canadiens need horses especially on offense. They have not had a 50 goal scorer in over 30 years. They have not had a 100 point scorer in over 35 years. His name was Mats Naslund. So, do the rebuild but they need to SHOW RESULTS!!!
I expect this team to be better. Especially with people being healthy. However, their division is super tough. Last in the Atlantic with 67-72 points.
Carey Price's daily cap hit is $56k. There's people who don't even make that in a YEAR. Dude makes that in a DAY.
The reasons is Habs fans are so patient is because the last time this team took a serious interest in building a sustained winner was probably the 70’s.
It’s been a slow decline since and the mid-90’s onwards has seen the organization willingly blind itself to the reality that barely making the playoffs won’t win you Cups. Fans have been begging for a good team that wins for years and we’re willing to wait to get that.
It’s the mediocrity and complacency that made us impatient. All the wasted years and lacklustre decisions. No bold actions or high risk gambles. Just a bunch of safe, high floor choices that don’t win big
I've seen most Habs fans have a lot more excitement for Hutson than Reinbacher. Both will likely be great defensemen for the team soon, but I think Hutson will slot into the roster sooner.
The fans don't mind waiting a few years for a real reconstruction, as long as the team tries to win. It's the sports medias journalists that are super eager to have the team in playoffs, even at the cost of the reconstruction. Most of them still live in the 60-70's where the team was tier 1 all the time, nowadays fans are more understanding that the game has changed.
As a Hawks fan I don't think we get Bedard if dach was not traded away and he was helping win meaningless games. Same thing with hagel, Debrincat, etc
Thank you ❤
Montreal please use that jerseys as a third jersey
As a Canadiens' fan I can't see us being worse than Ottawa or Detroit, especially considering the former got worse with trading DeBrincat and letting Talbot work with no real goaltending or stable blue-line and with Detroit's rebuild seemingly being stalled because Yzerman doesn't know what the hell he's doing anymore. I could see us being 5th even if somehow Boston completely falls apart which I don't see happening, either them or Tampa which would be fun. I think 6th place is where we end up, obviously would love to get in playoffs but I can't see it happening this year.
I do however see a 45-50 goal season from Caufield yes the injury to his shoulder might damage that type of season but he seems to be fully recovered and we'll probably see in pre-season how his shoulder has held up, Suzuki I could definitely see hitting PPG this season if he put up 66 with Ylonen and Hoffman on his wings for half the season. Dach wouldn't be surprised to see him get 50-60 points either that'd be nice. Matheson as well I can't see him at all being traded, he's one of our lone veteran D with Savard and I think we want at least 1 or 2 for now to help Guhle, Barron, Harris, and Xhekaj plus with the real good point percentage he had and his real good contract I can't see us dealing him right now. Montembeault 100% is our starter, would be incredibly surprised if Allen had a bounce-back year since for me he's looked horrible since being a Canadien, extremely inconsistent and nothing of what he was in St. Louis. Hughes has absolutely built upon what Marc Bergevin left us with some damn good prospects, giving us Slafkovsky who will be a top 6 forward in the next 2 years, and adding Dach/Newhook, giving RHP that opportunity to probably be on that 2nd line this year. Even picking up Lane Hutson and then the 3 goaltenders this past draft, he has a clear plan of what he wants for the future and I wouldn't be surprised whatsoever to see the Habs turn into a Cup contender by 2027, this team has massive potential for the future and I think we absolutely will be the next Canadian team to win a Cup.
Tough to hit a lot of posts when almost nobody plays a full season
Finally
I saw Dryden win the Habs their '71 cup, and I've watched every season since. There's just something about this GM's idea of a team, judging by his moves, that reminds me of how Sam Pollock operated. He's got his "Roadrunner" (Caufield) his big-and-brilliant "Big Bird" (Guhle) and Suzuki is a "new and improved" Jacques Lemaire. It also sems to me that most of the "young guns" are playing a brand of 2-way hockey that's been missing since they stupidly let Lehkonen get away!
Let the OLD TIMES *ROLL*!
I hear that there's a plan on having Price on roster to start the season, and then placing him on LTIR to get the full $10.5M LTIR cap space for the season. If they can pull that off, it will be great, because then the GM can use that space to make deals for more draft picks or potential talent throughout the season.
Don’t know if I’m team tank or if I want them to do well because I honestly don’t think they are good enough to do well & if they are lucky enough to get a high draft pick I have absolutely zero faith that they’ll pick the right player. Kent Hughes has shown that he’s the second coming of Bergevin. He makes great trades & gets players on fairly good contracts but he cannot draft for SHIT.
I’m very patient but the way things are going it’s going to be much longer than anyone thinks it will.
I hope they make DeSmith a jersey he can give his dad when he signs his golf bag. (Spittin' Chicklets Karlsson trade episode)
