I think they need a year of struggle, maybe even at risk of not making the playoffs, let the fans loose there minds early; then, Play meaningful games in March/April and ride the wave to the finals. Comfortably in playoff position before the trade deadline just leads to the "playoff questions" ramping the crucible too high.
I dunno, i am not a fan of keefe. I can’t see them doing any better in playoffs this year withhim as head coach. I love Marner but Matthews is key. If he is fully engaged and prepared to travel that long road to the cup or die they will be in a good spot.

The leafs are a decent regular season team but they are not built for a long playoff run. Bringing in Klingberg was a step in the wrong direction. We've had Gardiner & Reilly, then Barrie and Reilly. It didn't work! Get bigger and tougher in the d zone!
I hate to say it, Leafs fans, but this season is their best opportunity. The Bruins and Bolts are on the decline, the Panthers are banged up to start the year, and the rest of the division hasn’t proven themselves yet. They’re not gonna get a shot like this one again. Make it count.

Huge Leafs fan…Just a note…opinion, Nylander does not go in around the net…perimeter yes… he leaves JT alone in front of the net…will not pass, unless it's to Matthews…Coached kids for years, same thing…Mind you Nylander was engaged in the final round against the Panthers…If Nylander decided to play like a Canadian, he would be hard to touch…
