The one thing I worry about the most is Z bolting and signing with the Rangers or some other east coast team the first chance he gets … This is why I pray the Ducks do not be greedy and try their best to keep him happy

It seems clear that he was treated poorly by Murray n the Ducks to ensure he did not burn that first year and now the long play on this contract, Z is not long for the ducks an PV doesn't seem to like his game or style. even bringing in a 65 yr old first time coach, doesn't seem to mesh. This whole thing feels wonky….and it sucks

I think Verbeek knows what he has in Zegras. I can't see him trading a player like Zegras away or let him be offered sheeted, even if he doesn't fit the mold in what Verbeek usually looks for. It may also depend on what Zegras's agent is tying to get. It may be unrealistic. Maybe Verbeek is trying to lowball as well. Zegras still hasn't broken 70 points per season and still hasn't had a thirty goal campaign so even though his potential is sky high he will have to prove he is capable of a point per game pace before he gets that type of money. Honestly, roughly the same type of contract that was given Terry would fit Zegras. It's a good payday for a young player still proving himself. If he becomes the player everyone expects a seven year deal now will put him at twenty nine years of age for his next contract. If he became a point per game guy he would still be in his prime and would have no problem getting another long-term contract at whatever price range that would be.
VerBeek looks worse and worse as time goes by. This guy actually believes that he is smarter than EVERYBODY else in hockey. What is wrong with that picture? The guy is delusional for sure! Carlson and Fantilli will forever be compared so we will know just how smart VerBeek in very short time.
Us longtimers remember how Disney screwed with Kariya. I really want the Samuelli's to step in & send Verbeek packing. Bring in someone who has the smarts to not drag their feet.

The delay is probably absolutely about term as opposed to the amount of money. His agent could be getting greedy but i doubt it. Almost guaranteed it's term.
