I was at the Wings game. Goal-line Ice level with CHI's net (1st&3rd). And DET had the afterburners going all night. It was a really good game. McIlrath and Hicketts looked like a super solid pair on that blue line too.
Sorry to burst the bubble on the canucks but the Oilers at the most had 3 nhl regulars playing in that game while Vancouver had the majority of their regulars and the Oilers controlled that game all except the final score so I would pump the brakes on the canucks!

By signing Hutton, the Kings have used up all 50 of their available contracts. Barring reducing that number via trade or waivers, this has to be discouraging to Bouma, who's at their training camp on a PTO.
Vancouver was outplayed. They capitalized on a couple of bad gaffes.

Dell’s play was even better when you consider how crappy Burns was last night. He straight up was not paying attention. At one point he was on the ice, chatting with his bench, when the puck went right by him. I get that it’s a preseason game, but you need to be helping those kids fight for a job.
Mantha in Detroit has the potential to put up 30, but I agree that if Detroit wants to not be a bottom feeder this year they NEED to score by committee

Other Vegas fans will probably disagree with me, but I really liked number 8, Brett Lernout, best when it comes to extra d man we need. Guy is strong, finishes his checks and goes down to block shots. Other younger player may have more skill but they really looked weak out there, so skinny and barely doing any hits. NHL level would be too much for them this year, they need to add some pounds and work on strength.

Too many of Detroit's goals came from non-NHLers (i.e. Puempel, Ford, Terry). Pickard looked like a bad decision maker. None of the guys impressed all night. Even in moments where I could give them a tip of the hat, another moment would come where they took themselves down a peg.

Are the number of shots on goal generally lower in the pre-season than in the regular season? From numbers I've heard this pre-season, it seems so.

How does Mantha not have 35 goal potential?? He scored 25 goals in 67 games last year.
Campbell will probably second for quick again. This season is quick’s last season making 7mil so this will probably be his last season for LA since his trade value will be high since he will only cost 3mil next year. Peterson and Campbell will be 1 & 2 next year.
