  1. NHL Board of Govenors were pretty useless the past 10 yrs. How could Edmonton get so many no. 1 picks without any changes? How could NY possibly get no. 1 when they were not bad? Attract attention and interesting but all hockey fans knew it was most unfair!

  2. The Senators third overall pick from the sharks stayed where it was, the sharks were the third worst team so Ottawa got the third overall pick, the Senators never jumped at all in last year’s draft their sharks pick stayed at three and their own pick dropped from two to five.

  3. I have a funny feeling detroits getting #1 this year…i mean they only show the results of the lottery anyways, its easily rigged.
They should televise the actual lottery draw though

  4. I would argue Ottawa got screwed too but not as much as Detroit. Ottawa should have had 2 top 3 picks based on placement, and while the Sharks pick stayed, their original pick dropped to 5. On the other hand, the Rangers are super lucky!

  5. I'm a Wings fan in my mid 50's. The last time we got the situation like this last draft. We got the 4th pick of the draft that year. Stevie Y and does anyone remember who was picked before him. None of them did as well, played as long or was the Captain of there teams as long.

  6. These changes shall be known as:
    1. Detroit rule (or Colorado rule)
    2. NY Rangers rule (or Team E rule?)
    3. Edmonton rule (or Taylor Hall rule?)

  7. damn why'd you have to bring up detroit not getting Stutzle. I wanted us to get him way more then Lafreniere

  8. Dude Ottawa really was not that lucky as San Jose's pick did not move and their pick dropped from 2nd to 5th. And back in 2018 their pick dropped from 2nd to 4th (the B. Tkachuk pick) and their 2019 pick dropped from 1st to 4th (the Bowen Byram pick with Colorado)… so really Ottawa has no luck at the lottery (from a certain point of view they did in 2019). The last time their pick was in the Top 3 (a pick they owned originally not traded for) was 1996 with Chris Phillips (1st overall) and the 2001 2nd Overall used to select Jason Spezza was the NY Islander's pick they gave to Ottawa for Alexei Yashin… if anything Sens fans always dread the lottery. >_>

  9. So there is still a chance 2022 Shane Wright – Brad Lambert – Matt Savoie 2023 Connor Bedard – Matvei Michkov – Adam Fantilli will might end up on the same team and could be a game changer for the franchise in back to back year's that lands 2 of them

  10. Lucas Raymond is gonna be really good i don't see how the Red wings got screwed

  11. You should do a video if Shane Wright – Brad Lambert – Matt Savoie – Connor Bedard – Matvei Michkov – Adam Fantilli if they was all in the same draft who would you take in order

  12. To be fair the draft this year does have a gap. The gap starts probably starts after 5th overall (the top 5 includes imo: Beniers, Eklund, Clarke, Hughes, Wallstedt)

  13. As a Detroit fan I would say they are/were just unlucky. When you say screwed you make it sound like a person or group of people did something to make it happen. It was just bad luck.

  14. Rangers get lucky 2 times in nearly 100yrs & the lottery crumbles but NJ & Edmonton getting even more 1st overalls & nobody bats an eye

  15. You may have already done this in another video and I missed it, but what is your top 5 for coming draft? ( I know it's early)

  16. More ugly Red Wings news that I read? Looks like Tyler Bertuzzi's season is over, and he may need surgery.

  17. ottawa is screwed they wont wkn the lottery but wont make the playoffs either i see them finish out rank 5 in the north div and hopefully not better as 21 overall

  18. Not really sure how you can say NY and NJ were lucky and Detroit wasn't. The league holds a draft lottery that they will not let anyone monitor. The league gave the NY market the last three #1 picks and threw a #2 overall in there to boot. Detroit on the other hand has been in the lottery four times and has lost more spots than any other team in the history of the lottery.

Until the league let's someone verify their lottery, no one is lucky or unlucky… they are just assigned the spots that the league gives them.

  19. I'm writing this before watching the video but how the hell was Ottawa lucky? Sure with San Jose's pick we stayed at 3 I think but our own pick dropped from 2-5? Not an accurate video title at all. Ottawa could've had way better

  20. I guess Ottawa got lucky but that's because of dorion, Ottawa's own pick did still get really unlucky. I do enjoy the lottery changes though.

  21. Ottawa got screwed worst than Detroit. Detroit had only 18% chance at 1st. That is only 2nd best odds to Ottawas combined odds of 25% chance thanks to San Jose pick. You're crazy if you think otherwise.

  22. Also note that the change shouldn't affect ottawa either way.

2018 their pick dropped to 4th (not a lottery win)
    2019 same thing
2020 dropped to 5th (not a lottery win)

The only reason they got Stutzle is because San Jose stayed where they were with lottery pick 3. That should NOT be counted against them what so ever as it was NOT their lottery win it was San Jose's.

But knowing Bettmans hate on for Canada I wouldn't doubt if they were forced to count that against them and screw Ottawa again

  23. Ottawa has been a bottom 3 team for 4 years now. Ottawa had the highest chance at #1, not Deteoit. Ottawa if anyone got screwed
