So basically they ruled that he violated his contract with the flyers and suspended him and sanctioned his Russian team that signed him.
So they suspended him for 4 months.
They recognized the flyers were the victims here.
But they suspend their player for 4 months (does the NHL/AHL recognize these suspensions?)
And he’ll just walk at the end of the season and go sign with the Russian team anyway.
So the only thing that changes is nothing.

with the deteriorating relations between russia and the west, expect more and more of this. i am deeply worried that michkov will never play in the US. putin is very much moving towards iron curtain 2.0.

Unless something’s changed, don’t we have his rights indefinitely in the NHL for Russians?

Let’s all remember – while Fedotov has two weeks to decide if he wants to come here, it’s really his handlers who will “help” him decide. They’re clearly making an example out of Ivan, sadly. I’m sure he wants to GTFO of there after being sent to Siberia, but such as life in Russia apparently.

How does the one-season ban on international transfers for CSKA affect things now? Will it keep other players out of the NHL who otherwise might have come over? Will it stop international players from joining CSKA for a year?
