Petry or Savard?



OK Guys, it’s time to look at a debate that’s been going on amongst Habs fans lately. Its well known that Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens are likely to part ways with Jeff Petry before the regular season begins.. However, if you had a choice between trading one of Petry or Savard, who would you pick?

    What is the point of keeping Petry as he cried to get traded as the second time around is not going to be any better, it would be like a young baby being fed green peas and every time he spits it back in your face.

    There is not a demand right now for an RHD. The longer they keep Petry the better chance that that changes as injuries occur at Training Camp, and through the season. At the Trade deadline when Teams come to realize that he is a valuable add for a deep run he could net a 1st round pick. We are getting all indications that they have no intention on keeping him, but if they do it would be for the best.
    As for the Savard/Petry debate, without the history it's not even a question. One is a career 1st or solid 2nd pairing D and a great partner for Guhle, the other a 3rd pairing D who they have no intention of resigning in '25.

    Petry by a country mile! I love Savard, great guy he had a phenomenal career and have nothing but nice things to say about him as a player and a person but he can’t keep up with the pace of the game anymore unfortunately!

    Personally I would like trade two high value prospect in Jimmy Boy and Joe Demoe whit Petry for a big guy like Conor Geekie but he is a Coyotes.

    Petry would be a huge mentor for Barron. That being said both should be moved by the deadline. As for COVID restrictions. We all seem to forget that Quebec was the only province with a full curfew. Not once but twice.

    Savard sucks & he has no trade value!!! Petry quit on us but with the right kick in his behind he could be an asset !!!

    The question is not who’s the best defensemen Savard is needed to groom the young players He top of the league in shots blocked and most importantly Petry asked to be traded so let’s be patient and see what we get for him
