  1. I think they’d do best to spread the wealth and run Drouin/MacKinnon/Nichushkin and Lehkonen/Johansson/Rantanen. Johansson will be more productive 5on5 with some quality wings. Drouin is definitely a potential sleeper if he sticks with Mac. Woods and Colton make a nasty line combo. It’ll be them and Dallas battling for the top of the Central!

  2. AVs might be stronger than last year's injury plagued season. Drouin is unknown, but Mack/Rants will score regardless of the other Winger. RyJo healthy at 2C hole is far better than Compher. Colton better overall player than streaky ERod. 3rd line is better with Woods. 4th is still the same. Landy is a massive loss that still needs to be filled. EJ was too costly and cap paid for Macks extension. Newhook development stalled and trade helped to replenish Farm. Still room for cheaper options 4C, 3W or 3D.

  3. The weakest forward group mack has ever played with? I guess you're not familiar with the 2016-2017 avs? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this years forwards and people want to talk about what ifs with Drouin, Wood and Johanson. In case you haven't been paying attention, the Avs have some of the best pro scouts in the league. They aren't about making flashy moves just to get the media talking about them. They make smart calculated moves with players that fit their system. I have all the faith that this team is once again the division winner and will go on another long playoff run.

  4. I feel like the Avs forward depth is actually a bit stronger than last year. It sucks to lose Compher, Rodrigues and Newhook, but with the additions of Colton, Wood and Johansen, the middle 6 should be bigger and feistier than it was before. ER and Newhook are more skilled players, but I think the new guys are a better fit for where they will be in the lineup. Compher had a career year, but he's really a 3C that played 2C minutes for the first time due to necessity – Johansen is a more legitimate 2C (if he can stay healthy). Looking for Sam Malinski to step up and fill EJ's spot on the right side… Jack Johnson is a great choice for the 7th D, but if either he or MacDermid have to be an every night player the Avs could be in trouble on the back end.

  5. The avs got a lot stronger this year cap relief from old players moving on. An actual 2c who has a ton on point on the pp which the avs missed last year. The avs will be dangerously good.
