Swayman is asking for way to much.. good goalie but needs to not be greedy. Yet.
Gabriel Carlsson has signed for Växjö Lakers in his native Sweden.
McBain definitely deserves $1.75 mil. Dude makes a difference on the ice but it's hard to quantify that.
I don't think Swayman's ask is too unreasonable. He could be the starter for about half the teams in the league. I see the arbitrator coming in at $4M. If Boston walks away I'd love for the Kings to try to make it work

Swayman could start on about 20-25 teams, makes sense as to why he’s asking for a big paycheck. Just don’t love spending so much on two goaltenders.
If I were Boston I’d probably be looking to trade Swayman. The reason being is with Bergeron and Krecji leaving they need help at their centre position and if you were to trade Swayman who could possibly be a starter on another team maybe along with a pick or two or maybe a prospect you might be able to make something happen and you still have Ullmark so why not?
I would pick the arbitrator
Swayman is similar to Oettinger in Dallas at 3 x 4.
EDIT: Please look at the side by side stats and careers to this point. Its an easy comparable. And if you want his number to be low so you can sign other players your argument truly holds no weight.
And I am a HUGE Stars fan and love Otter. But I believe that Swayman was a bigger draft steal and looks to be just as good a goalie. Stats back it up

Swayman wants 5??? On what planet? Got injured last year only playing 40% of the games, dude is tiny underneath the pads. B’s signed 2 Providence goalies. He’s not getting that from the B’s. That being said, I’d prefer them trade Ullmark for cap space and sign Sway for a realistic 2-3.

Hard to see Swayman getting less than Samsonov. Sure he is younger with fewer NHL games played, but has been far more consistent in those games the past 3 seasons. It would be best to tie him up long term like they did Rask, but not practical at this time. Still surprised the netminders that have headed for arbitration (Samsonov, Swayman, Gustavsson) did not garner offer sheets. Who wouldn't give up a 2nd for 3 or 4 years of these guys?
I think Swayman is worth at least 4m. Boston is sitting two starting goaltenders. Almost any other team in the league, Swayman would be the starter. At the start of last season he was supposed to be the 1A. Ullmark just never lost a game. 0.92 save percentage for his career so far…
I think that $4.8 million seems like fair market value for Swayman , especially if he takes over as the number 1 goalie.
Goaltenders seem to get treated like RBs in football, difference is a good goalie is far more valuable and harder to replace than a good RB.
If Samsonov is worth 3.5m I think Swayman is worth around 4m
