  1. As a sabres fan I've always hated every single guy on the Bruins… except Bergeron. He's just a perfect hockey player and he played the game with total class from start to finish. What a career.

  2. Huggggge fan of Bergeron. He’s the kind of NHL player who 30 years from now, you’ll never forget how he played.

  3. 1st ballot hof, bruins retire number, thank you for helping canada win gold, and thanks for breaking my heart in 2011.

  4. You mentioned his injuries in 2019, but when Boston lost to Chicago in 2013, Bergeron basically went from the handshake line to an ambulance. Torn rib cartilage, broken ribs, a separated shoulder, and, astonishingly, a punctured lung. The man shouldn’t have been on the ice at the end of the game.

  5. I remember that Randy Jones hit was super dirty. Bergeron was on his knees, the puck was nowhere near him and he got crosschecked in the head into the boards. Jones should have gotten the book thrown at him.

  6. Biggest compliment I can give Bergeron as a Sabres fan is I hate the Bruins, but I love him. Enjoy retirement Patrice. And just like with Brady, been patiently waiting for this day to finally come. 🙂

  7. I'm a Leafs fan who definitely doesn't like Boston. But i cannot hate Bergeron. He was one of my favourite players of this generation. His comeback was inspiring and he played with a lot of class. I'll miss him. But the good news is the Bruins just got a lot easier to play against.

  8. Finally…Maybe now we can actually start having interesting conversations about Selke Trophies instead of always giving it to Patrice Bergeron just because he is Patrice Bergeron.

  9. Toss a world junior championship on that resume as well. Such a career almost makes the three year wait for the hall comical, first ballot or the machine is broken.

  10. Chára's leave really began the end of an era for Boston. Now Bergeron is gone too. Is there any chance Krejci comes back? Oh yeah, Lucic! He came back just to see almost all of his old friends gone. Marchand and him (+Krejci?) will represent the Bruins of 2005-2015.

  11. Can you do a career of Joe Nieuwendyk I feel like he was underrated and had a very successful career

  12. 6 selkes in 19 years so you could say he won the selke 30% of the time which is crazy. Absolutely not a Boston fan but respect Bergeron for sure

  13. Its crazy to think I've been watching hockey for about 21 years now. I started getting into it in 03-04. I remember getting a hockey card pack and in it was a rookie card of Patrice Bergeron! I always traded for him when playing the EA NHL games and he's been a favorite of mine for the past 20 years. Legendary career!

  14. His numbers are incredible, his leadership and class unmatched. His compete factor off the charts. As a life-long Bruins fan, he will always be my favorite Bruin of all-time.

  15. Respect to Bergeron. Finding out the news late because I’m camping with not a lot of service. Not at all a Bruins fan but got massive respect for Bergeron. Hell of a player

  16. I wish so bad we could’ve gave bergy one last cup this last season has such last danced vibes and the bruins do what they always do and stab my heart but go Bs

  17. Also left out the 2013 finals run injuries; punctured lung, broken ribs, separated shoulder, the man played until he physically couldn’t

  18. Leafs fan here. A) loved him on Team Canada. B) glad he won't play for Boston anymore
And C)maybe Marner can get a Selke now

  19. I’m a diehard leafs fan, and even through all the pain this man has caused me throughout the years, he deserves all the respect in the world for his accomplishments. 6 selkie trophies, apart of the triple gold club, over 1000 points and an incredible leader and person on and off the ice. Ashamed he didn’t want to play for another season, as I’m sure he would’ve at least been in the conversation for another Bergeron trophy… I mean selkie. Congrats on the retirement Bergeron, the whole league will miss you dearly!

  20. shannon – egads what an oversight, you forgot to mention also wjc gold – that's also part of the holy hockey championship big top!

  21. Bergey will be missed whole heartedly. Him and marchy had a chemistry i loved. As a boston diehard fan all i can say is dont feel bad because its over, be happy because it happened…
