Honestly Avery makes a couple really interesting points, the ones that stood out to me were:
1) Having a bottom 6 that truly grinds, dumps and forechecks to wear the other team down to give the top 6 easier minutes is something a lot of teams have done away with. He’s not wrong there and the teams that succeed generally revisit that model to a point.
2) His comment about Bedard’s play style not translating to the NHL well I think is very justified. He also admits Bedard’s shot deserves credit, but the way he skates and plays a more passive game when he doesn’t have the puck is very concerning.
That said, he also has some absolutely horrible points:
1) Saying we should have gone back into a rebuild.
2) Calling Robertson our only high end draft pick of recent years (and completely forgetting about Knies).
