[POLL] 2023 /r/DetroitRedWings Prospect Ranking Thread – #10 Prospect

Now that we’re past the draft and free agency it’s time for the yearly /r/DetroitRedWings prospect ranking thread! As for how you vote it’s completely up to you: some may weigh ceiling and/or upside the highest, others may prefer a prospect that’s closest to the NHL – there’s no wrong answer on how to vote.

A new poll will be posted every 2-3 days depending on how close the voting is until we finish the top 15 prospects. I’ll include 10~ prospects every poll and will add one new prospect after each poll so discuss in the comments below who you feel should be added next.

Check out the subreddit’s previous rankings here (starting from 2018!): [LINK HERE](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qmkO8YqMlR7TzWDaaWu9yMWKnIDTwNNe/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=112624943015473579853&rtpof=true&sd=true)

**NOTE**: Prospect criteria will be defined using the [NHL Guidelines](https://www.nhl.com/info/hockey-operations-guidelines).

**REMINDER!** Avoid downvoting those you disagree with in the comments, this whole exercise is focused on discussing prospects. People *WILL* have different opinions the farther we go.

**Candidates to be added next**: ~~Tuomisto~~, Viro, Niederbach, ~~Hanas~~, ~~Buium~~, Savage, ~~Dower-Nilsson(s)~~, ~~James~~, ~~Buchelnikov~~, ~~Augustine~~, ~~Gibson~~, Doucet, ~~Cleveland~~

Johansson has slid too far, but at least the two most… contentious names are off the board.

People really are not ready for Aljo

I had Soderblom 9th, Buchelnikov 10th, Johansson 11th, and Augustine 12th, but they’re all interchangeable for me. Can’t go wrong with any of the 3 not taken

I think our top 10 prospects is pretty unanimous. It isn’t the same order that I personally have them in, but when AJ wins this one my top 10 players will be the same as the polls.

Sticking with Augustine. All time his NTDP season ranked 4th in wins, 2nd in SV% and 4th in GAA. And this NTDP team was not a strong defensive team. He was absolutely clutch at the U18s, coming up huge in the biggest moments to win gold. When the other prospects on the list are likely bottom of the lineup players and long shots I think it makes this one a no-brainer imo.

There’s a reason SY speaks highly of Aljo. He should 100% be in the top 10

  7. Trey Augustine here. Looked like an absolute gamer of a tendy in the prospect tourney, not even counting all-time NTDP records.

  8. Johansson, Buchelnikov, Augustine next 3 and it feels wrong for all of them to be this low

It’s now between AlJo and Hanas for me. Voted Hanas for the last one, but not mad about Lambo.

Buch for me, he has the highest ceiling and a wicked shot. I just don’t see AJ getting as much ice time as he needs to show his true potential but a good problem from a team standpoint.
