They never explained why this happened. Milbury called a timeout up 3-1 in I think the final game. But this game eliminated the rangers from the playoffs.

I went to high school with Dan Cloutier, he played Jr B here (St Thomas Stars) for 1 year before he was drafted by the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds of the OHL in 1992
Cloutier was a bitch. Taking free shots at a prone and still padded while he was able to slip out of his jersey and pads. The only reason he challenged the Isles bench is because he knew no one was risking a suspension by accommodating him. No way he would have tried this back in the days of bench clearers. You'd be referring to him in the past tense. Muckler was a bush league piece of shit for sic'ing his 4th line on the Isles top line. Typical Rangers.
Fun Fact! This brawl is the only reason I know who Dan Cloutier is. I remember seeing the clip of him challenging the Islanders bench in a "Top 10 NHL Rivalries" video.
