Now that we’re past the draft and free agency it’s time for the yearly /r/DetroitRedWings prospect ranking thread! As for how you vote it’s completely up to you: some may weigh ceiling and/or upside the highest, others may prefer a prospect that’s closest to the NHL – there’s no wrong answer on how to vote.
A new poll will be posted every 2-3 days depending on how close the voting is until we finish the top 15 prospects. I’ll include 10~ prospects every poll and will add one new prospect after each poll so discuss in the comments below who you feel should be added next.
Check out the subreddit’s previous rankings here (starting from 2018!): [LINK HERE](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qmkO8YqMlR7TzWDaaWu9yMWKnIDTwNNe/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=112624943015473579853&rtpof=true&sd=true)
**NOTE**: Prospect criteria will be defined using the [NHL Guidelines](https://www.nhl.com/info/hockey-operations-guidelines).
**REMINDER!** Avoid downvoting those you disagree with in the comments, this whole exercise is focused on discussing prospects. People *WILL* have different opinions the farther we go.
**Candidates to be added next**: Tuomisto, Viro, Niederbach, ~~Hanas~~, ~~Buium~~, Savage, Dower-Nilsson(s), ~~James~~, ~~Buchelnikov~~, ~~Augustine~~, ~~Gibson~~, Doucet, Cleveland

Me voting Lombardi for the 6th time:

Memes aside, idk how he’s not the consensus here at 8
I think I’m at the point where everyone remaining has so much uncertainty, so I’m going with the player with the most upside.
To me, that is the 6’8 forward that showed flashes of stickhandling and puck control at the NHL level that most 5’10 forwards aren’t even capable of. It might take him a couple more years to truly hit his potential, but if he is able to improve his skating, I don’t think anyone remaining, and even some already voted in match Soderblom’s ceiling.
Stupid ads, I get baited by the ad that says “OK” every time.
Almost went Johansson, but I eventually went Lombardi here. Either one has a really strong case here and we’re finally in the range where Soderblom comes into play for me too.
We’ve got Lombardi time. He’s a big bet on upside but holy shit did this guy blow me away when I saw him in person.
Still going with Soderblom here.
Aljo time
Lord Elmer not being picked here at 8 would be wrong. He’s already proven he’s an NHL player, something nobody else left has
Day 43 of Elmer apologetics
If you look back at the table with prior years’ results, most of the guys who ascended and then started backing up in following years (Lindstrom, Svechnikov, et al) ended up being a “bust”. Veleno probably the best outcome of that group so far. And it isn’t a huge sample size to work from.
Just noting it because Soda is in that club now with his (three spots and still counting) drop from #5 last year. Which surprises me. Will anxiously wait to see if he bucks the mini-trend.
Been with Lombardi since 6 since I think his ceiling is the highest

Lombardi over Unicorn for me. But they’re the next 2
