  1. Chucky suffered back to back bad knee injuries in the nhl and it totally derailed his career. Ontop of that in his last year of junior he also suffered a knee injury that allowed him to play only 2 games before becoming draft eligible. I really think the second one did him in. He was on pace for a PPG and was playing as a #1 centre. He could never get back to speed after that.

  2. I think Nail Yakupov had a great chance to succeed as a pure goal scorer but was never utilized properly! I hope that he can have more success in the KHL and make good money

  3. A lot of the reason why Galchenyuk got pulled from center was because he couldn't win faceoffs when they needed it. The rest of his center game was great as far as offence goes, meh in his own end, but when you can't win faceoffs consistently, they need to put in someone else.

  4. 10:58 "Nail is statistically the lowest career point total by a first overall pick ever with 136."
I'll be "that guy" and point out that Marc-Andre Fleury only has 20 assists in his career and no goals, so his career points total is only 20. Rick DiPietro had 19 assists, Michel Plasse had 9 assists (though he was selected in 1968 before the draft rules changed so could potentially be disregarded on this list).

However, even just looking at skaters, Greg Joly scored 21-76-97 and Gord Kluzak had 25-98-123, though both were defensemen.

Nail does have the lowest career point total by a first overall pick who was a forward (excluding active guys who were drafted in the past couple years (Alexis Lafrenière, Jack Hughes) who have a strong possibility of surpassing his numbers.

  5. There were worse drafts than the one in 2012. It produced players like Filip Forsberg, Tomáš Hertl, Teuvo Terävainen, Tom Wilson, Morgan Rielly, Jaccob Slavin and some solid players like Shayne Gostisbehere, Matt Dumba, Colton Parayko, Jacob Trouba, Damon Severson. Not to mention netminders like Andrei Vasilevskiy, Frederik Andersen, Connor Helleybuyck, Linus Ullmark.

  6. Hate to say it but Pavel Zacha is getting dangerously close to this list. Imo this is his last season in NJ if he can’t figure out how to be more consistent. Great shot, and overall skill set just seems to lack motivation or something. Hope the kid turns it around though, specially w who was taken in the next 10 or so picks after him…

  7. Ironic that the islanders honestly didn't do too bad with the Reinhart pick. You could view it as them getting Barzal and Beauvillier with the pick they used on Reinhart. And with Gudbranson, the Panthers got Jared McCann in the trade with Vancouver, so it could have been worse for them as well.

  8. Putting Yakupov in this video is a no brainer. As a matter of fact, being reminded of this hurts my brain! great video!

  9. PLEASE… Galchenyuk was a horrible center, playing in only 1 direction. Most of his goals in that 30-goal season were score after the Habs were eliminated from the playoffs and no one cared about playing defense, incl the coach.

  10. Brian Burke said Nail was the worst draft interview he ever had. I guess Nail starting arguing with one of the scouts and everything.

  11. I live in MTL and I can tell you Galchenyuks problems were all off the ice. He was dating a cokehead stripper, always out clubbing getting hammered the night before games, that type of shit.

  12. Galchenyuk had cocaine problem in Montreal that led him to be traded

Even signing autograph and on practice he was on cocaine and it was noticed a lot
    He partied way to much

    That was his own downfall

  13. What an incredible move by the Islanders to trade Reinhart to Edmonton for the 2 picks that ended up being Barzal and Beauvillier. That is one helluva deal for NY.

  14. Zack Phillips was round 1 pick by Minnesota Wild in 2011. Hes ended up in my local team in Scotland and hes not even our best player lol. Its crazy to think a round 1 pick has ended up here because literally no-one whos been drafted comes here. Nevermind Round 1 pick.

  15. Joulevi should be #1 by a mile. Complete bust and we are missing out on a Tkachuk Pettersson combo 😢.

  16. what's crazy is that Galchenyuk is currently actually 5th in points, games played, and 3rd in goals from the 2012 draft, Faksa, Girgensons, Grigorenko, Koekkoek, or Pouliot are probably more disappointing than a 350+ point Galchenyuk considering those were all also top 15 picks, being picks 13, 14, 12, 10, and 6 respectively. in fact, Galchenyuk has more points than any two of those combined. That's not saying he's great, but he realistically was one of the better picks of the draft, however he has been dropping in value based on the last few years, but the 2012 draft just generally was bad.

  17. Should have drafted Murray? Ryan Murray is almost just as much of a draft bust, to think they (Ryan Murray and Yakupov) were drafted before far superior players like Morgan Reilly, Andrei Vasilevskiy, Flilip Forsberg, Jacob Trouba, Tomas Hertl, Teuvo Teravainen, Shayne Gostisbehere, Connor Hellebuyck and Matt Murray

  18. yakupov galchenyuk murray and reinhart going top 4 just sums up this draft perfectly
