The US Open is the final Grand Slam of the year and takes place at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The 2021 US Open saw Russia’s Daniil Medvedev and Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu claim the men’s and women’s singles titles. It was both players’ first major title, with 18-year-old Raducanu becoming the first-ever qualifier to achieve the feat. The 2022 US Open main draw is scheduled to go ahead between August 30 – September 11.

  1. Some say her championship victory was a fluke but why didn’t one of the 127 other players who desperately wanted this same title get it? She outlasted the seven players put in front of her (plus the qualie rounds!), and that was the only thing in her control. Numerous more experienced and skilled players chose to beat themselves with nerves or no self belief, while Emma doesn’t appear to have doubted herself for one second. With the current parity in the women’s pro game, the trophies are being handed around, and few others can win more than one anyway (if that). Too bad for the veteran players who have let themselves down when they had health, hunger, opportunities, and time.
Emma took her chance when she got it and has nothing to prove to anyone else but herself. She still has been on the tour less than one year, with nothing but growth ahead of her, to go with her wonderful effort and sky-high attitude, health permitting.

  2. Wasn’t the very last serve the won the match ‘let’? I’m sure it flicked the top of the net…

  3. Такие юные молоденькие теннисистки, талантливые,упорные,с характером. Аплодирую стоя,👋👋👋👍👍👍

  4. Emma will be the biggest female sports star in the world in a couple years, she's talented, beautiful and well spoken.

  5. She might never reach this high again… but lets appreciate the extraordinary achievement this was. Its unprecedentaed

  6. Watching this again, you can see why Emma went through the entire tournament without dropping a set. How a qualifier ranked 150 in the world is able to play tennis at this level for 2 solid weeks is simply beyond words and defies logic. The contrast with this year's US Open final between Iga and Jabeur couldn't be greater!

  7. Both players were awesome in 2021. But currently (Beginning 2023) both are ranked in 70s. I wonder why their performance is nose diving.

  8. Absolutely begging for Emma's injury problems to go away. She showed one or two glimpses of this form since winning, but I fear she's going to have one of those frustrating careers. She needs to build herself into a physical unit, like Swiatek.

  9. This sport is not anymore the elite sport for white people. People that is leading this sport is “minority” people
