Connor Hellebuyck To The Devils For Vanecek, Holtz, & Pick? Trade Rumor Discussed

There was a trade rumor that came out yesterday talking about what the Winnipeg Jets would receive in return for Vezina trophy winner Goalie Connor Hellebuyck. It Mentioned that the NJ Devils would receive Connor Hellebuyck with a retained Salary For Vitek Vanecek, Alexander Holtz, & a 2024 1st Round draft Pick. In this video I discussed the trade and how this may be a good trade for both sides. The Devils receive the Goaltender that can make them legit Stanley Cup Contenders and The Winnipeg Jets get a good goalie in return, a really good prospect in Holtz and a 1st rd pick.

  1. I hate this trade, even if Helle was willing to expect a 7 mil dollar extension. He’s really not much better then VV and the Devils are up against the cap with Mercer still having to be extended. I don’t care about trading Holtz but I certainly don’t want to just giving away 1st rd picks either.

  2. The price is the big question but I don’t think they should sell off a top prospect for a Devils team that is not yet in their prime. Also, the contract will need to be short term, could that happen?

  3. I still have faith in holtz and think moving him now is a mistake. But I understand if he cant crack the line up this session it's over your him as a devil. Common holtz!!!

  4. If NJ can swing this trade and sign Connor for 4 year deal, then I would be down.
If The Devils are going "all in" to win, this makes all the sense.
As long as his price doesn't compromise NJs ability to sign Mercer longerterm in the next coming years.

  5. Id say you have to keep vv. I think if they did move holtz i have faith fitz and crew would have a better idea about whether he was gonna make the line up or not.

  6. The fact that the devil's said to holtz its make or break for him i am ok with him being in a trade cause that means they are on edge with him the draft pick means nothing at this point our system is pretty full anyway so for me it comes down to money if we can get himbfor 7million per year i think its a trade u should make like u said it makes us a liegit stanly cup threat 1 thing is i would like to keep vitack maybe send a different goalie in the system not shmid and maybe another prospect i really like have vitack as a really good backup let splitting the games i think would keep both goalies fresh

  7. I don’t understand all this commotion around Hellebuyck especially considering his age and price . To me he is slightly above average goalie , not a cup winning caliber anyway . Patience is the key . I am sure that a diamond in the rough is out there . Akira can be the one as well .
P.S. Devils should’ve picked Yaroslav Askarov instead of Holtz in that draft .

  8. Would we like Hellebuyck. Yes. Can we afford him? Probably not. Would like to pickup Hart as a 1B but I’m not sure that we can afford him either. Resign Tatar on a team friendly deal. 2 x 2.65 mil. Resign Bahl. Go into the season with some money left over in case we need to add another depth player.

  9. I don't think this is real but…..
It seems the Devils don't like Holtz (IMHO, they didn't really give him an opportunity) If they don't like him anyway, this is a great trade for the Devils.
Even if they trade a very raw prospect and the 2025 1st.

  10. I really hope we can bring hellebuyck in. Even for 1 year I would be very happy. Getting a goalie like him boosts our cup chances massive.

  11. I'd prefer that we trade for Gibson instead. Gibson still has Vezina potential if you put him behind a competent defense unit, and his value is at an all-time low right now, so we wouldn't have give up much other than Vanecek in order to get him. We could also try to trade for Gustavsson since Minnesota is cap strapped and likely can't afford to resign him. He's actually going to salary arbitration because of it.

  12. As much as we want to focus on goaltending, the defense with possibly Luke Bahl and Nemec will determine the season's end result imo
