Florida were the better team in only 1 game. It’s unreal, it feels like karma for the lucky win against Tampa. So it totally nullifies everything, it’s just as if they lost in round 1 as usual. Marner and Matthews need to go, they don’t try and they’re greedy; their greed has cost this team SO much, fuck them both!
League is a joke hope they get sued for negligence leaving someone like Parros in control of safety. League is rigged yank garbage. Can't wait to see Bennet carried out on a stretcher hopefully as soon as possible. Series is very different if Florida isn't allowed to legally hurt whoever they want. Have fun watching your inbred yank garbage league.

The Panthers ALWAYS flip the puck up to the Leafs blueline when they were in trouble in their own zone, and then forecheck as the Leaf's try and make the AMAZING PASS or play the control game. Most of the time it lead to a offensive faceoff or a turnover in the middle of the ice. They chip the puck high enough that the forwards can start to stake on to it as the puck is falling at the Leafs D's feet.
The Leafs always were reversing it, trying to make passes up the middle, passes to a covered winger. Almost never EVER chipped the puck over everyone and let the O stake on to it. The result was turnover after turnover, a pretty pass that didn't work or drop that gets everyone scrambling. Never the simple play.
Can it be coaching?

The goalie wears the same sweater as the rest of the team. Bobrovsky has been a joke for 2 years considering his salary, until this post-season. The only ingredient Toronto has been missing in the Matthews era has been an elite &/or a hot goalie in the post-season. If your offence gets stymied by a goalie on a heater, you're screwed. The Leafs should've treated Bob after his upset of Boston, like they did Vasilevskiy from the get go. They needed constant net front presence, screens, tips etc, but instead, they kept trying for the 'perfect' shot/look instead of just getting pucks to net while making his life difficult & creating rebounds. I don't know how the pre-scout didn't identify that Bob had pretty much morfed into 'Columbus' Bob.
I'm not defending the Leafs, just pointing out that Lyon was the reason Florida squeaked into the playoffs by one point, NOT Bob. Deservedly, Lyon started the playoffs vs Boston, but got pulled in game 3 after giving up 4 & looking shakey. Bob started game 4 & got lit up for 5 of the 6 goals against. Down 3-1, Maurice goes to Bobrovsky again, because he has utterly no other option & Bob then magically turns into Vezina Bob. He's the primary reason, along with Ullmark turning into 'Buffalo' Ullmark, as to how Florida came back from down 3-1 to upset Boston. He then beat the Leafs basically stealing 3 of the 5 games. Certainly in games 2 & 5, he is the #1 reason Florida won those matches.
Florida has an aggressive forecheck, a few greasy rats, some grit & physicality, but as far as I'm concerned, they were mostly outplayed vs Toronto, except game 3. Last night, 52 SOG + a post & a crossbar, so Florida is now this great 'playoff' team. What BS. They've got a red hot goalie. If Bob stays hot, they might make the final, but without him at the level he's been at since game 5 vs Boston, not a chance. If the Bob of the last 2 years re-appears, they're done unless Lyon can recapture what he was doing late in the regular season. With Bob on this heater, I think Florida can also upset Carolina, as I still don't believe Andersen is a lock-it-down, no blink, clutch 'tender. He was the weak link in a number of critical games with Toronto. We'll soon see.

Many of the goals they scored in the Tampa series were junk goals….tip-ins, deflections, etc. I saw that the pp in the Florida series they kept hesitating in shooting. They were constantly looking for a perfect shot.
I wish Rosehill was still a leaf. most playoff type team they had in last 15 years was 2013. Every one other than Rielly should lose their letter. Id be calling every team drafting 2-7 this year to make deals for Marner and Matthews. They can't be the face of this franchise unless you're marketing this team as Barney and Friends

The issue is management has backed themselves into the corner with maxing out the cap. They will never get fair value back by trading any of the core four. Other teams around the league see the lack of drive and desire in these guys. The unwillingness to go through a wall is so obvious. They are screwed. Relying on skill alone , without want and will is never enough. See Seattle, See Carolina, See Florida, See Edmonton….then look at the leafs.

Trade Matthews before his value tanks. He's too fragile for a long playoff run.
What has to happen is one of the core has to be traded, the coach Keefe as to be fired, Dubas needs to go. This offseason has to have a fresh look from the new GM. A lot of this teams problems come from the core 4 self entitlement, coaching was minor league at most. Seeing Justin Holl on the nice did it for me, that and not have Simmonds because Keefe wanted to play finesse hockey. But this team needs Grit first and foremost and the core 4 doesn't have it. Look at Marner in the FLA he didn't want the physicality. Someone also needs to teach Matthews to hit a motherfucker this offseason. I want Matthews to evolve into a 2 way power forward like Babecock wanted Matthews to be. There needs to be a new GM that had no attachment to these players, needs to be a coach that doesn't pander to these players and has Stanely Cup playoff experience. This team is far too talented to have these early exits and get steamed rolled every series. Shanahan better house clean this offseason. Goodbye core 4, Holl, Murray, Coach Keefe, Dubas, Kerfoot, Brodie etc.
Not enough credit is being given to the Panthers. They did this to the Bruins and now the Leafs.

For me the leafs never adapt there game they still do this puck possession bs instead of the simple play. You see it on there break out if they dont have a clear out they try and force instead of just getting it out marner is really bad for this. And thats why florida won cause they turned the puck over too much at there own blueline or in there zone
