As the news of Alex DeBrincat joining the Detroit Red Wings really settles in, we gather ourselves to take a deeper look at just how his approach will affect the Hockeytown lineup.
Tune in as we open by discussing where Alex DeBrincat will play in the lineup, how this may affect Dylan Larkin & Lucas Raymond, which of Perron, Rasmussen, Fabbri, or others will play on the 2nd line next to Compher or Copp, what happens on the power play with Seider or Gostisbehere QBing, & lots more (3:55).
Next, we’re joined by Ken Daniels, Lead Announcer for the Detroit Red Wings with Bally Sports Detroit, as he discusses Steve Yzerman’s trade for Alex DeBrincat, the Red Wings free agency acquisitions (including Holl, Sprong, Lyon, & others), Detroit drafting Nate Danielson, Axel Sandin Pellikka, Trey Augustine, & other, & also tells us all about the Roast & Toast of Tomas Holmstrom & Nicklas Lidstrom in benefit of the Jamie Daniels Foundation (22:13).
After that, we update you on Nate Danielson signing his ELC, what the CHL-NHL agreement means for where he’ll play (going back to Brandon Wheat Kings in the CHL?), when he can join the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins, his chances of making the Red Wings out of training camp (over the likes of Marco Kasper, Carter Mazur, Elmer Soderblom, & others), & lots more (50:50).
Finally, some more news, including an update on Dmitri Buchelnikov, Kris Draper is named Assistant General Manager (in addition to Director of Amateur Scouting) alongside Shawn Horcoff under Steve Yzerman, Filip Zadina signing in San Jose, & more (59:10) before we take your questions and comments during Overtime (1:03:05) – enjoy!

Oh! LGRW 🐙🐙🐙🐙
Just gotta think of the center depth we have in 2 years.. 7-8 guys that can play center should be on the roster, will make the team way more versatile.
Larkin
Danielson
Kasper
Copp
Compher
Lombardi
Rasmussen
Veleno
Seen you boys in the debrincat video. 🎉
Love Ken Daniels
Last year teams focused on Raymond. They physically ruffed him up and got into his head and I believe it also scared him too. Working with Larks and the cat it won't be easy to put too much focus on Raymond. If they keep going after him and getting out of position, it will probably end up in the back of the net.
I like Evans interjection… where is elmer in this? I'd like to see him stomp in the ahl with the Mazar, hanas, Lombardi, kasper, etc…
Missed opportunity for the episode title: "DeBRINCAT, DANIELSON, AND DANIELS (KEN)"

Kenny's insight is always spot on. Brings up a lot of points that I don't hear many podcasts mention. Dialed in.

This forward core is of course if neither Soderblom, kasper, mazur break through.
The Cop will be strong next season. We will have two Good lines.
The mic stands are really annoying. They are very distracting. .
Damn we get * another * wwp episode?!?!? Y’all are spoiling us.
Maybe we will have 4 scoring lines consistantly this year. LGRW!
Audio quality not great, 4th or 5th one in a row. Seems like when the mics switch between hosts talking there is a delay, lips move but no words/sound for a second or two, so you miss names, context etc.
Red Wings last year were already exactly league average on both PP at 21%, and PK at 78%. Only getting better from there
How can you not love Ken? Just a straight up cool hockey dad
This prospect pool has no top end forward that they are anxiously awaiting for. We will see with Lombardi with the AHL this year. If Lombardi lights up the AHL, yeah we may have a forward worthy of the hype. The last highly anticipated drafted forward was Zetterberg which appears as of today a long 20 years ago. I remember the Detroit News running a prospectus before Zetterberg arrived to North America ready to change the outlook for the organization needing a star forward.
I was surprised to see the hype about a 7th round pick but it came true.
DeBrincat seems to thrive playing with a good creative passer. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Bergy ended up on a line with him somewhere.
Holl is coming to a much different system. The coaching staff have made it clear the forwards are expected to play solid two way hockey that will provide suppor for the D. I think he could thrive under Lalonde's system.
Roast of Lidstrom…
Fedorov walks up to mic: “Hey Niklas, remember when you bit on that ONE move in practice that I spent a month working on in my head to walk in and score during drills…”
Ken Daniels : “Thanks for coming out. Good Night!”
If you have equal lines, you have no lines.
