It's a good move in a vacuum but I don't know who sits on the back-end now. History has shown that Keefe is not going to sit Holl, so does that mean Sandin is on the bench in the playoffs? His gripe in the offseason was about playing opportunity so he's definitely requesting a trade if he's on the bench in the post-season when he's healthy. Plus next season you are committing to carrying 7 defence on your roster that can't be sent down to the Marlies which limits your roster flexibility and eats up extra room against the cap. I like Sandin, but I think I would have preferred to see a move that sent him back the other way for a bigger upgrade. Lafferty is a good pick-up for next year, but I'm not sure how much incremental value he provides over Aston-Reese, or Holmberg this year.
..if the Leafs fail in the playoffs you cannot blame the bottom six..again..the softness in the core may be exposed..again..

4 or 5 teams are still better till the Leafs get a 3rd and 4th line , more defence and an actual Goalie!! Take note from Bostons lineup and even Tampa and Carolina.. Probably New Jersey too .. All better than Toronto as they built their team with players with skill and heart .. Laffs only have skill … Zero Heart!!!

Kerfoot is valuable in the playoffs. It was Nylander and Kerfoot who had any success last year.
