sakic is the most overrated gm in the league lmao
In my opinion this is a good trade I’m a Coyotes fan and the price should have been high
Trading Timmins allows the avs to put Byram in. And lots of people forget, but Byram was the 4th overall pick and could be considered a long term steal. That 1st round pick is also somewhat deceiving and is really just "an early second round pick". Like when you pick in the 1st round, the talent is typically within the top 18-25 picks. Anything beyond 25 is hard to determine value.
Lol you really don't know what you're talking about do you? It's cute you like hockey, but people should take what you say very lightly
Top-4 potential on any other team that isnt already rocking Cale Makar, Devon Teows, Sam Girard, and Bowen Byram. If THAT is your D-core, with a guy like Erik Johnson on your depth pairing, you can afford to sacrifice a prospect for arguably the most important position on the ice, and expect a resigning of Kuemper next year. Hard to see him just being a rental. He knows this is his best chance to win a Cup over the next 3 or 4 years. Not a fleece, but the price was high. I think the 1st-rounder hurts more than Timmins.
I think what everyone is failing to realize is Mackinnons contract is up in 2 years. Yes they could have signed Grubauer at 6mil AAV for the next 2 years, but he wanted term and once Mackinnons contract is up they cant be spending that much money on a slightly above average goalie
This is a great trade from Avs, that 1st pick will be a late pick in a weak draft class and Timmons was fighting for a 6th spot in best case. Kuemper has a good chance to be better than Grubauer
I don't know much about hockey, so I respect your opinion on this, but aren't the Avs clearly in a win now mode? Why did the Avs trade for Kuemper over resigning Grubhauer?
this isn't a fleecing. it's a potential #3-4 dman and a late first for what was really the last #1 goalie available. kuemper is good. frankly, both teams get what they want.
the avs are still fine on defense.
Lmao this guy must not be an Avs fan. Joe didn't want offer a 6 year deal. Grub is the best thing we have had since Roy. What goalie could Joe get with out paying a huge price lmaoo. If you anyone's going to say Flurry you clearly don't understand the situation he is in
I can't wait to see legorocks eat his words 🙂 I'll be back then.
the Avalanche are a goalie away from a Stanley cup……CHECK .
A huge upgrade , he is the same age as Patrick Roy when the Avalanche got him .
1st round pick? What 25th pick? Timmons was crap this year. Whoop de diddly do. Your take is a waste of broadband dude.
Colorado got screwed. Timmins will probably never get over his concussion issues but still a bad trade
He took awhile to break in because of concussion and almost had to quit.
If we just paid grubby 1.5 million over Darcy salary hit we would have him. Krakken paid 5.9 aav I believe and Darcy is 4.5. yes I get the long term in years and possibly goalie fall off at the end years but still.
Colorado needed a goalie a good one Darcy is a good fit for the Avs Timmins and a 1st rounder is a little expensive but they need one they had no choice
The video comments on this video are a bit confusing. The players are good, the players aren't so good. Player has potential. But he hasn't cracked the line up. The draft pick is a first round pick. But it might be a pick number thru #32 draft pick. If the Aves win the Stanley cup, it is going to be an acceptable trade for Colorado, no matter what the Coyotes get out of the players they receive.
What are you talking about man, avs is not fleeced one bit. Kuemper is a much better if healthy. Gru was an average goalie (a backup at one point), the team made him who he is now. 2022 1st round pick will be a low pick anyways because this team is going for the cup.
Haha, 2 former Wilds goalies, getting paid!
Avs are going to love Darcy ..
Whoever says sakic got “fleeced” doesn’t know hockey or English.
All respect to Timmins but as a Avs fan I was never overly impressed with his play.. Also as an Avs fan I have been very impressed with Kuemper's. Good move
Guy has no clue what he's yapping about, regardless of the outcome we're still miles ahead thanks to the Duchene trade
When u make that many good trades and build a solid team like he has it’s ok to get fleeced in a deal to get what you need.
This couldn't be a worse take.
Both teams got something they needed, plus we will also only see in time who is the winner of this trade.
To throw around terms like 'fleeced' for a (likely) late first round pick and Connor Timmins, who its very clear from the way you spoke about him you haven't watched play very much, is just bizarre.
Wow 🤯🤯🤯 Canucks couldn’t trade them Holtby for that???
Saying Sakic was "fleeced" is just stupid. On paper this is a fair trade for both teams, with a possible edge to either side depending on how the players perform. Only time will tell. With AZ eating 1 million of Kuemper's contract, Sakic effectively replaced Grubi with someone just as good for half the price.
Well see… but I must say… it might as well be a 2nd round pick… because it will be a 29th through 32nd pick and I hate to say this but Conor Timmons has already had bad concussion issues and probably in my opinion wont last much longer… sadly said… but just like any move you dont really know tell after the season is up…
Lol… he'll only need a fleece this winter…. as he brought in the heat from Phoenix……😜😜😜😜
100% Yup. I don’t get anyone who thinks Kuemper going to be a true number 1. I don’t even think he’s as good as Grubauer. Francouz going to end up getting at least like 40% of starts and he might end up outplaying Kuemper like he did Grubauer 2 seasons ago. Kuemper going to disappoint HUGE.
It's a win now mode move it's big hole to fill with someone great but it's not a fleeceing hell barely a over pay if you got a shot at the cup timmonds is exspendalble and a late first round is sweet for rebuiders and equity for contenders
I'd pay the price all day long for kempher he was lights out in front of a horrible team with no help that is a star
Coming back here after the Avs won the cup. Looks like this trade paid off for them.
Cut to footage of Darcy Kuemper and Joe Sakic hoisting the 2022 Stanley Cup.
I think fleeced no longer applies, now being 32nd pick overall and a Stanley Cup, Sakic got what he need out of the trade, even with horrible playoff, Kuemper needed to be what was brought in to do, play 2 solid games in finals when it mattered, game 5 and 6 with solid defense core in front of him. So fleeced, no
This aged poorly
They won a cup. Worth it.
