[Brooks] Rangers closing in on contract with K’Andre Miller, Post has learned. Should be in the two-year, $7.8-8.0 range ($3.9-4.0M per)

Wow thought this was going to be closer to 5 obviously wish the term was longer but this is great news

    Fair bridge

Although I’d like to get away from bridge deals all together in the future. I feel like we rarely catch players on a team friendly, long term deal. It’s always a prove it bridge and when they prove it, we are paying the price.

Eh im happy it’s only 2 years AAV a little high for my tastes

Sounds just about right. Only issue is that if Key does become better once his contract is over, cap space will be even worse than it is now. If he took 1 more year, it would’ve been when Trouba and Panarin’s big ass contracts expired and would have given the team more leeway

When Byram signed for 2X$3.85 I had a feeling that was the framework for Miller assuming we went the 2 year bridge route. Sounds like it’ll be nearly identical, very content with this. For reference Byram has played 91 career reg season games vs 218 for Miller.

  6. slight overpay, but not too bad

    should be 3m per

Man this sub is toxic lmao

In my opinion he’s a 5 million dollar player at that term so this is a great deal. Like I don’t get how he can be so underrated by so many rangers fans. The guy is big an amazing skater and scored 40+ points almost all at even strength. He’s also mostly a very solid defender. He is prone to making big mistakes at the wrong time though

Why do I have this feeling that Tarasenko hasn’t signed anywhere because he’s waiting to see what the rangers can offer him ?

And the rangers can’t make a real offer until they resign their RFAs….hrrrmmm

I do like this deal for Miller though. Wish it was for more term , but 2 years at 4 mil with the cap going up is very much in the players interest there.

  9. Kind of wish it was 3 years so we could give him some money from troubas contract when it’s done but the deal is solid and fair. Should give us more than enough for laf with a bit left over.

This is pretty much what I expected. I thought it would be a 3.7 / 3.8 AAV bridge deal. Players know theres more money to be made in the very near future. Austin Matthews signed a 3 year deal for a reason. Key is a smart dude and I hope when it’s time to pay him we do it as long as he’s earned it.

Really didn’t want to bridge Miller but we didn’t have the money to lock him up like most other teams do with their young future stars. But now we also barely enough money for Lafreniere. Teams can go up to $4.3 mil and only give up a second if they want to offer sheet him. The Rangers have like $2.3 mil left… we better hope teams are still scared to offer sheet
