I was really hoping for an AAV lower than that

  2. theBronxBombers

Wish we could’ve gotten a longer term, but this seems like a fair AAV. Let’s get Laffy signed and then try and squeeze Tarasenko in.

  3. StyllAhlie

Slightly cheaper than the report of aav coming in at 3.9-4. Will happily take this, well done Drury!

If you assume a 22 man roster of:

Mika Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, Filip Chytil, Barclay Goodrow

Artemi Panarin, Chris Kreider, Alexis Lafreniere, Nick Bonino

Kaapo Kakko, Jimmy Vesey, Blake Wheeler, Tyler Pitlick

Ryan Lindgren, K’Andre Miller, Erik Gustafsson

Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba, Braden Schneider

    Igor Shesterkin, Jonathan Quick

    Bin Harpur, Alex Belzile

That leaves $3,078,417.00 in remaining space with a Lafreneire extension remaining

Sexy bridge deal, leaves plenty for Laf. Another Drury W

  6. MyNameIsLegend

Right around what I expected given the Byram deal, but I’m always curious how they end up on such specific numbers. Why 3.872 for 7.744 and not 3.875 for 7.75?

  7. LetsGoNYR

Please make this some how get Midrow out and Tank in

  8. NYC161122

Good bridge deal. He’s going to get PAID in 2 summers.

    Leaves $3 mil for Laf

    Should be more than enough

This makes me wonder if the Rangers try to go long term on Laf (4-5 years) with the remaining money and keep his price low. Hasn’t proven enough and you take a swing and hope he outperforms $3M and the contract is a steal for a couple years.

Probably not but fun to think about

  11. Maleficent-Comfort-2

I have to say that’s very specific

Is it possible to even trade Goody? I’m sure we’d have to attach some sort of asset to him.

Also, even if he was traded, would that open up his full cap hit for us to spend on someone else?

As much as it’s disappointing/ unpopular, the window is over in 2 years short of multiple miracles

No longer bridged and need to be paid:
    – IGOR
    – Key
    – Lindgren
    – Kakko
    – Laf

Old/ out of their prime and very expensive:
    – Trouba
    – Panarin
    – Trocheck
    – Mika
    – Kreider

Sure crazy unforeseen trades or prospects emerging into studs or whatever happens, but it looks fairly cut and dry if you don’t win now it only gets way harder in the years to follow given the roster we constructed.

Decent just can’t play like parts of last year now

  15. AmonDiexJr

That put the Rangers in a challenging position with Laf. A team with cap could offer sheet Laf a contract at 4.2m$ that the Rangers would have to match and then deal with the consequences. Or get a second rounder for Laf and let him walk.

I’m glad! I’m rewatching the Preds game where he scored twice in the first period.

I still can’t believe how low players get paid. NHL salary cap is a joke.
