Bo Nix came over from Auburn and gave Oregon fans mixed feelings about the prospect of him being the Ducks’ starting quarterback last season. By the time the season ended, Duck fans were anxiously awaiting to hear whether or not he would return for his final season of eligibility. Winning the Heisman is a tall task, so what would have to transpire for Bo Nix to hoist that trophy the way Marcus Mariota did in 2014?
On today’s episode of Locked On Ducks, Spencer McLaughlin lays out the timeline of several blue chip 2024 recruits who will be committing in the coming weeks that are on Oregon’s radar. If players like 5-star EDGE Elijah Rushing choose the Ducks, Oregon’s 2024 recruiting class ranking could see a jump further inside the top 10.
Oregon’s defense has to make a jump this year for the Ducks to return to the Pac-12 championship game. The Ducks’ defense has never had a nickname, but one thing has to happen first on the field before that could even be considered.

GO 🦆🦆 🏈!
"Can Bo Nix remain healthy for Oregon football in 2023?"
Go Ducks!!!
Where do the Ducks stand with 5* Linebacker Justin Williams?
Bo staying healthy would be awesome. However, that performance against Utah last season was Heisman worthy in my opinion. It was also the defense we wanted for the entire season. Here's to hoping for a stronger defense this year and Bo staying healthy! Go Ducks!
What's a Lizzo?
Get off my lawn!
Contingent on the o line
No ,your stretching it. He is a 6 year player. Not a chance in hell.
Rushing seemed to be the most likely 5 star player to sign with Oregon. Now that he might not be joining the ducks, do you think Oregon will land any 5 star in this class and if they don't, do you think they will remain in the top 10 without one when it is all set and done?
This Oregon staff if great and they do a great job recruiting. They do need to close better, both on the field and in recruiting. I don't know why they just don't go to an NFL type of structure when it comes to NIL. I would do a contract with players and reward them if they start and if they perform. Incentivize them to be great and focus on their craft. You don't have to pay anything up front but pay more for on field performance and excellence in the classroom. I would add a bonus if they don't get into any off the field trouble.
Bo needs to have really big games in marquee matchups. If voters don’t see him, they won’t be swayed. Ref. McCaffrey at Stanford.
Can Oregon win the Pac-10 championship?
Hate to be that guy but here I go again!
44 total touchdowns not 43!
Colorado game Bo caught a pass for a touchdown from Bucky! Everyone forgets the receiving touchdown. I understand how it can get lost in the shuffle but give Bo his receiving touchdown!
Love the show Spencer!
Go Ducks 🦆🦆🦆
On the music scene, have you listened to Pink Floyd, Blind Faith, Cream, Led Zeppelin or Grateful Dead?
Two words… MO TOWN!
Boy..I'm glad we didn't make it to the Natty last year…Imagine getting wrecked by Georgia by 50 in the FIRST and LAST game of the season. The program would never recover. Blessings often come in disguise.
💚💛🦆🦆
Ain't no mountain higher is : Marvin Gaye not Martin. Your still the GOAT 🐐
I'm with John-zz67z. MoTown
Nix could do easily, but it won’t happen. Simple because the coach has to keep him on the field, EVEN when the Ducks are way ahead! To win it, you need huge stats, and you can’t pull your QB early in the fourth quarter. And last year he was pulled early!
If he wants to win a heisman, he needs to beat his main rivals instead of losing to both of them like he did last year. Instead of worrying about beating USC, the real question is will he ever beat OSU?
I picked Bo for the Heisman before the spring game along with the ducks winning the Pac-12 and the national championship and I said Bo would forego the NFL and stay at Oregon as an Assistant coach. What a year this could be for Oregon
the biggest factor for bo winning heisman is the defense. he can put the numbers up that’s not a question. we have to be ranked top 10 really top 5 for bo to get the respect he deserves
Defense has create more turnovers and shut offenses down, this gives bo nix those chances to score more yards td etc. Fyi bo is the real deal!!
Here's an off the wall question for the mail bag. Oregon has Athletic Behavioral Health Services available to the athletes but does that program provide the full range of services you might find in an equivalent NFL program? What I'm getting at is the evolving science of "flow states" which high level athletes have often reported experiencing during moments of exceptional performance. Beyond flow states the pressures of performance and the anxiety of highly rated recruits facing the up-hill battle to adjust to the speed of CFB can significantly hinder or delay a players potential. Plenty of fans might groan at the concept of a "team shrink" but Sports Psychology isn't a fad and it does produce results. For a team like Oregon this seems like an obvious area to differentiate themselves especially with the desire to recruit the best athletes from high school and prepare them for the extreme pressures of an NFL career.
Spence….I have a question for your mailbag. ( sorry if I'm not going through appropriate channels to offer this question )…I have not heard any updates on Ferguson's ( T.E. ) health status. Any Intel? What are the odds He starts the season? Mahalo!
In the spirit of fantasy football approaching, if you had to build a fantasy football team only of college football players for the upcoming year .. what would your team look like?
The 69s ain't shit
