Buffalo Sabres: Adams would be unwise responding to DeBrincat trade

I’m not quite sure how to take this view from the Buffalo commentators. They truly think our GM is a hack or they are shaking in their boots. I’d hope it’s the latter…..

I started reading, expecting it to be a comparison highlighting the strengths of each GM style, and give justification toward why each team’s setup is ideal for their own scenario.

But nope, regular season champs is a very important title among two teams that didn’t even make the fucking playoffs.

This is especially irritating to me, because I don’t need a sabres writer to beg me for attention to get my approval, that team is built like a brick shithouse. Now they just gotta actually do something with it.

The Sabres haven’t made the playoffs since 2011, and this author said “the Adams plan is paying off dividends” more than once.

this article reads like it was written by a legitimate idiot, full disrespect intended. His premise is shit, Yzerman is “wheeling and dealing” and it “hasn’t worked”? What is this poorly written garbage lmao. Yzerman has made literally zero high value trades involving sending out a first round asset before yesterday. His biggest trade before Cat was what, Leddy? Which cost a 2nd and included Panik’s cap hit. Husso and Ned cost 3rds. I literally can’t think of another player we have straight up acquired in a trade where we spent the assets. Literally all of our trades have been selling at the deadline, pick swaps, or not first round value swaps, until this one. That takes about 30 seconds of looking at capfriendly to understand too, but this article reads like it was written by a chatbot so I mean, it’s prolly got precisely zero research informing it.

I like how he totally neglect the fact that Stevie had to spend 2-3 years tearing the franchise down to the studs before he could even begin to implement the Yzerplan. By “flurry of trades” does he mean trading old players on expiring contracts that literal every GM worth their salt does when not in contention?

What the fuck was that? I think my 11 year old writes better and more logically than that.

I went from having sympathy for Sabres fans while shitting on their team, to having admiration for their team while shitting on their fans real quick. Sabres are building a good team (and so is Ottawa), but damn if their fans aren’t ruining it for me. They’re consistently the epitome of that meme with the dude celebrating at 7th place or some shit, but only they think that gives them the authority to tell the 8th place guy how much they suck.

I’m not going to read this article, I’m going to take all of yours’ words for it and call this garbage that Id like to not support with a click.

No offense to Sion Fawkes, but all I read was the first paragraph and knew you had absolutely no idea wtf the Wings have been doing since Stevie took over lol. We are very clearly and undisputedly building this team through the draft.

  8. JoaquinBenoit

The Sabres have been irrelevant since Pegula bought the team and have been the “smartest guys in the room” for a while now. All they had to do was let Eichel have that surgery.

  9. ruebenhammersmith

Got one paragraph in, all I need to know.

  10. This dude lost all credibility after the first sentence about Yzerman loving to build his team around free agency and blockbuster deals. Yzerman clearly builds through the draft and plugs in some necessary pieces. Like a 30+ goal scorer. We’re starting to see the Yzerplan take shape, but it’s been built mostly through draft picks and a few quiet trades and pick ups that have taken advantage of their opportunities.

  11. RedWingsFan1990

All he has to do is Google how many picks Yzerman has made since his tenure and realize he’s indeed building through the draft while plugging necessary holes where players need time to develop. Still gotta put a competitive team on the ice though and young 40 goal scorers dont hit the market often let alone those who specifically want to play for your team.

I said it a week ago and I’ll say it again, we’re no longer in a position to draft in the top 5 (Bostons pick is TBD) so we’re gonna have to make a trade for an elite 1st line talent. Steve did just that. If anything, I would question him more if he didn’t make a trade this year for one and the opportunity fell flat in his lap and he bit without giving up anything worth a damn.

    Sneak peek of the author.

Jack Eichel has a cup, not with the Sabres

  14. Technicoler

I mean it’s hard to take this seriously when they don’t factor in Yzerman is clearly building a team for decades of success, not one great season. Lol

  15. Isphet71

While Yzerman is playing chess, their journalists lick their checkers.

I don’t even like our own local journalists that cover the Wings much. I’m not gonna concern myself about the other teams’ local smooth-brained journalists.

I wouldnt care nor worry about any articles written on any team specific website. Even if it was a Detroit based site.

  17. CompletelyTrueFact

This article reads like somebody put their incoherent ramblings into ChatGPT and said “make this sound like an inflammatory news article.”

I use ChatGPT regularly for work, and this has AI written all over it in terms of style.
