“Now, though? DeBrincat gives them the kind of finisher they’ve long been missing on the wing. Detroit hasn’t had a 40-goal scorer since Marian Hossa in 2008-09. DeBrincat’s hit that mark twice in the last five years.
That doesn’t mean he’s a perfect player — he’s a trigger man who still needs a facilitator, and accordingly, saw his production drop to 27 goals last season in Ottawa. But that number still would have been second on the Red Wings, as would have his 66 points. By a considerable margin.
And while losing 20-goal scorer Kubalik shouldn’t be glossed over when discussing this deal, getting a scorer of DeBrincat’s caliber checks off the biggest need Detroit had this summer and may well make it a challenger for a wild-card spot in 2024.”

We’re all expecting playoffs, right? When I look at our lineup, we’re 4 lines deep. Although the Atlantic is a tough division, we’re looking like a team that will get production from every line and compete no matter who our opponent is. Not to mention, Tampa, Boston and debatably Florida (injuries/departures) are all on a downswing.

Really interested to see how many goals he is going to put up here. Think he’s going to be very motivated to produce. He still had a good year last year, was a bit of a down year, even though he could’ve scored 35+ last year. He was just a bit unlucky all year, he was hitting the post all year, and barely missing the net. With Shane Pinto as his centerman too.
Hopefully, I can will it into existence, but Debrincat for 45+ this year? Number one triggerman on the team and he will be given every opportunity to succeed here. 45 goals would be crazy though, but I think he has somewhat decent chance on it

If you listened to the presser, it’s clear he and his family were never comfortable in Ottawa. We often lose sight of these players as men, husbands, fathers, and sons. They have families, feelings, etc and we’re quick to forget it when we talk numbers.
Now that he’s living out his dream, once he gets past the butterflies, I bet he will be an amazing red wing for many years and will score a lot of goals. I don’t know him personally but I’m happy for him and anyone who gets to live out a dream like this.

Looking forward to seeing a team that seems more in it than just “how good are we really”
