  1. Fun podcast Coach…I do not like the HABS trading 1st round picks…this year for Newhook (plus a top 2nd)…now for a player who is very slow getting to his potential…I wanted to have another 1st round pick this year…alas…the good point is that we know the product…I would downgrade the players being offered a bit.

  2. I'm bias becau Justin Trudeau put me in the streets and tried to freeze and starve me to death for doing the right thing so,the name Trudeau on my favorite team is making me sick,so I'm hoping the management will trade him, because we're all sick of hearing the name Trudeau.

  3. i agree with Enortap on that one, i think the Habs are building a team with a lot of 20 goal scorers and Lafreniere would fit in with the Habs. great video Coach.

  4. Too much for LaFrieniere. The Rangers need salary cap space, and if they want to trade him, Hughes will pick their pockets. He's a world class negotiator.

  5. I always wanted either Alex or Kappo, but you're offering way too much. We need to be careful also with whom we offer as we need space either of them to play. How 'bout Ylonen,, Engstrom and a 2nd next year. It's not like the Rangers love either of the players I want.

  6. 350 knocks it out of the park. Terrific HABs Daily News. Love your Top Ten but prefer your top twelve. So I will add 3 more in Condotta, Tuck and Florian Xhekaj for top fifteen. Those 3 players will surprise many. lol. I like your rumour proposal but would eliminate giving away the first rounder and instead give Struble. Terrific video Coach. Cheers

  7. Trading for Alexis Lafrenière sounds good but….
    1) The forward roster is packed for the season, unloading players like Hoffman and others to accommodate this would be difficult.
    2) I would keep Engstrom and offer someone else. (knowing Rangers can't take salary, Harris or Trudeau, Farrell)
    3) Left wing has Caufield, Slaf, Newhook, RHP, Pezzetta, that would move a left handed shot to the right wing. Plausible. (Plus for now, Hoffman, Pitlick can be waived/Laval)
    4) Rangers could unload someone else to keep him.
Montreal's best faceoff centers: Monahan 55.14%, Dvorak 52.02% (injured, won't/unlikely to start the season), Evans 52%, Suzuki 47.32% then Newhook and Dach at @ 38%. With Dvorak in the lineup Newhook is LW and Dach RW. If the plan is trading Dvorak, with the knee surgery it likely won't be until the trade deadline. If Monahan gets injured (and when he leaves) and Dvorak injured the faceoff dot is a concern. With tough guys entering the division, Pezzetta is required.
Lafreniere does have a bit of physicality to his game too, that's an upside but accommodating this and how practical it is is questionable. With Edmundson gone trading Anderson is iffy considering he helps Suzuki in a leadership role, has toughness and wants to stay. Armia and Hoffman are the two best to move but difficult to find takers.
Prospect pool still needs a potential top center(s) and forward 200 foot depth.

  8. Your Lafrenière mock trade between the Habs and the Rangers sounds pretty fair and reasonable to me … However, that being said, the Rangers need more cap space, so the Habs would obviously have more leverage. Kent Hughes would therefore not have to offer as much as you propose.

  9. Coach, too much for Lafreniere, Engstrom alone is much better and has the potential of a top 4 D, (kidney and a 7TH round pick. Calgary 1st round). that is all I am offering. The fact that he is a first overall does not mean much. So far, his career he is below .5 points per game since he is professional and plays 3rd line, I am looking at minimum 2nd line to 1st line potential for LaFreniere

  10. Newhook’s acquisition opens up a lot of options. Without Lafreniere, and no further trades, here is a possible forward lineup to start the 2022-23 season:

    CC Suzuki Dach

    Anderson Monahan Gallagher

    Newhook Dvorak Slafkovsky

    Armia Evans RHP

Pezz Hoffman Heineman Ylonen (16 players? ouch)

  11. Q.- GM Hughes has stressed the need to get young, fast and bigger so maybe we have an issue incoming. A potential lineup in two years with nine players under 6-0? . Coach, my expectation is that we will see many trades in 2023-24?
    Caufield 5-7
    RHP 5-9
    Gally 5-9
    Farrell 5-9
    Mesar 5-9.5
    Newhook 5-10
    Harris 5-11
    Beck 5-11.25
    Suzuki 5-11.5

  12. So the habs will trade for all players that have a French last name who is born in Quebec. Did we not see what happened with PLD , this is not happening
