Ouch. Head down elbow up is always a recipe for disaster.

What a fucking dickhead. It’s training camp ffs. I have to believe that the coaches tell the players not to fkn run each other over in the scrimmage. It’s common sense… they’re teammates.
Dry-Capital-4996
What a fucking idiot, nice way to lose respect from everybody else at the camp.

Jesus… in a fucking training camp? Really??

I lived to lay big hits while playing, but never on teammates at a training camp. What’s wrong with that guy?
He never even came back to check on him either. I don’t want 33 on any team I’m on

What an absolute moron. It’s training camp. You don’t run your own guy in fuckin’ training camp. Lol.

That is just stupid. Engagement during training camp is great and all but not being able to watch out that you dont hurt one of YOUR guys is just stupid. I hope Hirvonen gets well soon
grantwolf1971
Hard to judge how bad it was without seeing the lead-up, but dumb as hell hit during training camp on a teammate.
Steelgangsta
Good hit.

Has anyone here ever fought for a spot on a roster? Some of the worst people to play against is your own.
Bet he won’t cut to the middle like that with his head down anytime soon.

I can only hope it was accidental, but it doesn’t look like it

Clean open ice hit assuming his shoulder never made contact with the head, and while I love the physical play, Training Camp is not the place for this though. What makes it worse is the person who laid the hit never even considered to check on the injured player.
I’d also like to mention that this sort of what camp is for, to make sure the players are ready for the NHL level, but this is way too far. While It’s certainly important to make sure young players are physically ready for the league, this is the type of hit you lay on in the playoffs, not on a rookie before his first preseason game.
I’ll also that that I think both people here learned a lesson. For one, Training Camp is not the place for these types of hits, but also, you HAVE to keep your head up in the NHL or things like this will inevitably happen at the worst time.

Damn! I hope it’s not a serious concussion…holy shit
