Who does he think he should’ve taken ice time from?

I mean, he played 142 games with the Kraken and only got 50 points. I liked the guy, but I wasn’t surprised that we moved on from him.

Over Matty, Wennberg, or Gourde? Not so sure about that but I hope he plays well in Boston.

His game is probably a better fit for Boston too. He’ll definitely get a chance to prove himself this year.

I mean I’m not one to say he is right or wrong, but like someone else mentioned he didn’t really have a spot to replace anyone above him, so there really isn’t much weight behind his feelings here in Seattle.
That said comparing him to Craig Smith in Boston who has nearly identical ice time and games played for the same position he is 100% right as he beats Smith in nearly all offensive stats, some close some by a healthy margin. So hopefully he gets a better shot there.
If he wants more ice time then moving on was probably his best option as it likely wouldn’t have happened here because there just wasn’t the ice time to spare.

Considering the 4C in Seattle played 3rd line minutes, it’s a real stretch to say he was under utilized.

Love the guy but not at all. Not even close. Best of luck in Boston. Good player.

I agree with him and no one is to blame. I hope he gets more ice time

i mean, you want every player to have that kind of motivation, so no hard feelings.
i hope geekie has a stand out 75 point season (though i hope boston loses 50 games, so itll have to bittersweet for geeks)

4C upset he didn’t get more playing time. News at 11.
Come on Geekie let’s be realistic here, the only place you could’ve played more would’ve been the PP, and while ours was awful, you’re not better than the 8 forwards we wheeled out there

I can’t say for certain if analytically speaking he was underutilized or not, but I know what it’s like to know you’re capable of more, so I figure that’s likely how he’s feeling about it. So in that case leaving a roster where you know you won’t get more is the right choice. Georgiev asked for a trade from NYR last year for this exact reason, he wanted to fight for a starter role and knew he was never going to get it if he was trapped behind Igor because Igor is so fucking elite that no one is ever going to wrestle that starting role from him. And it paid off big time, he totally crushed it. So here’s hoping Geekie gets the ice time he’s after in Boston
