In the past the Wild missed on a number of players, trades. The management team now seems to hit on almost everything, it’s the brightest and biggest difference from the past GM’s and scouting staffs. If you look back, we played a trap game with Jacques Lemaire and soared way beyond expectations too quickly. This may have hindered the draft picks as the Wild zeroed in on D to match that style of play. Even Koivu was a defensive center, shutdown player as another example. If Point were there, there’s a 90% chance we take him. The last thing was the development of the Iowa club and it’s coaching staff. In the past we would call up a player hoping they would stick. Now we have a stable of strong players and can pick and wait until a player is ready. Rossi would have been forced to stay in the past, now we can let him develop in Iowa, get bigger, etc.
As for Tampa, my favorite team out east, they can play any style of hockey. Going to the finals 3 years in a row speaks for itself.
