Micheal Stone retires

I think he will be great as a player who can teach the basics of defense, how to be a pro and not get discouraged while being scratched. Cheers Micheal!

In all the discussion of players not wanting to play in Calgary, it was good to see Stone so loyal. While I don’t think he got great offers from other teams, I am certain there were options to play as a bottom pairing defence man that he turned down over the years.

Guys like this always make good coaches or front office guys.
Hell, Stone is going to retire at the NHL level twice, which is an accomplishment beyond what many players will achieve.
I just have this sneaky suspicion that he’ll end up like Tim Hunter, the guy no one really remembers outside of Calgary, but devoted his life to hockey. Not a bad Legacy.
Fuck I’ll miss that shot from the top of the circle.

I hope he knows what he means to us. He’s not an Iggy or Kipper, unless we’re talking about how much the fan base loves him.

I hope Zaddy and him are taking the training camp through drills this summer. Can’t wait for that video on IG.

Just the image of him letting that clapper go would make any D man flinch.

I love Stone. He’s been the consummate professional, he’s been through so much just to stay in the game. His life experience will be great for teaching the young players about ups and downs, not just on the ice, but off.

He didn’t want to play anywhere but here.

This man deserves to be mayor.
