I’m surprised they haven’t done this for the all star weekend events. it seems gimmicky but that’s what the all star events are all about.

I think it would be cool to have a camera on the goalie.
ComprehensiveAlps652
Oh hell no
EvilBillSing
Helmet cams and having players miked . Then sell those as special TV packages Center Ice plus gets the Captains or the Coaches live mike feed every game .
JohnYCanuckEsq
And not one guy laid this dude out? That’s not beer league.
kadran2262
No, they would break too easily
the_painted_dog
No. if the NHL should do anything with the camera, it is zoomed the fuck out so that the net and golden orange crop travel frame for any shot taken from the top third of the offensive zone.
bankrobba
Cool, I can now throw up from dizziness instead of alcohol induced nausea.
AnonPlzzzzzz
Makes me a little motion sick watching this
Chewie_i
Definitely not during play but I liked what IIHF does with the ref helmet cams for replays. Also the camera guy that skates on the ice to get shots of celebrations is pretty cool
PlatosCaveSlave
Refs , yes! Players absolutely fucking not.
ndr29
That would be cool from time to time
Roc-Doc76
I could see this working with goalies in particular. Could result in some very interesting angles on plays around the goal
AIHumanWhoCares
What is this technology? Is it a very well stabilized composite from several cameras?
SiliconeArmadildo
On players, no. On referees, yes. But the union representing the NHL officials opposes it because they don’t want there to be proof that an official actually saw a foul but chose not to call it.
Schroedesy13
I’m hoping this was shinny cause that’s some awful D
No_Entertainer_9760
Nah I’m good. This feels like a fly’s POV

This would be a great way to get the Gen Z audience that they’re going nuts over right now. Fast paced jerky action that’s very satisfying to follow? Sign me up.

IIHF runs ref helmet cams during the World Championships and during commercial breaks the Youtube stream would show replays from the ref’s point of view. It’s cool to see the game from ice level as well as hear the conversation between the refs and the players.
beevbo
Not as demonstrated here. Camera is mounted too high and looks overtop of all the players.
Matt7163610
I would absolutely want to watch a breakaway and goal score from the helmet cam of top players.
KoolDiscoDan
It’s just a matter of time before the technology is there for *quality* wireless, embedded, not noticeable cameras. The NFL has been using them for 5 years for their ‘TrueView’. They have the hidden and wireless down, but the footage still looks like it was shot with a potato. It’s not yet near Insta360/GoPro quality.
Mikey_5386
At the very least the refs should have them.
ManLegPower
Yes, this is the future.
Feisty-Session-7779
I think they should, but they should make them comically large and bulky, like 80’s camcorder sized. Purely just because it would look hilarious.

I would like to see one on reaves.
