7 European Veterans Making Their NHL Debuts This Season

Though I primarily make videos discussing the NHL on this channel, many of you know that I also have a soft spot for European hockey too! Having already released a number of uploads looking at NHL alumni who are now plying their trade across the pond, I have decided to flip this concept on its head and instead highlight the handful of European players that have made their way to the NHL this season after spending most of if not their entire pro careers overseas.

So in today’s video, allow me to take you through my list of 7 European veterans making their NHL debuts this season!

  1. Lankinen played the best games of his career in the 2019 world championships where he shutout the NHL-star studded Russia in the semifinal and only allowed 1 goal versus Canada in the final while stopping over 40 pucks. He became a legend in Finland instantly and we're more than happy that he finally gets the chance in the NHL and actually plays really well!

  2. Unfortunately Sorokin couldn’t get his first win tonight. Hopefully his team plays better around him in his next start

  3. Something I noticed with a lot of these players is that they have also had great international success! Gold medals in world championships and Kaprizov even has a olympic gold medal😯 Good video and very well put togheter, Cheers!

  4. By the way Barabanov dressed for 9 games in 14/15 playoffs but played just one shift lasted 1:03 in cup clinching game. For other 8 games that came up earlier he was just sitting on the bench for the whole game

  5. Wouldn't it be nice if we could talk about the new Quebec hockey players coming up in OUR own country? Nah. …no one cares……

  6. I’m pretty sure that Lankinen’s stats were inflated a bit because HIFK had this guy called Miro Heiskanen who’s kind of a god so that sure helps a goalie keep their net clean.
