I don’t know, Grav… 32 year old o’reilly, who has missed 20+ games 2 of his last 3 seasons, to a retooling predators team who just paid a similarly productive player a lot of money to leave for nothing (duchene) is one of the best signings? And compher, a 28 year old coming off a career year who is very versatile and fits the red wings timeline is one of the worst? All for a difference of .5 mil and 1 year. You might be right in the end, but I don’t agree with the early analysis on these ones

I actually like the miles wood sighing if he can get close to 20 goals witch he has come close several times. Plus the cap is supposed to be going up in the next several years.

Jarry-2 out of 3 years All Star. Defense was more of a problem. His main issue is health. Not bad or great but better than anything else out there for less money. Guess we’ll have to wait and see

The number of Pens games I've missed over the past 2 years is in the single digits. I've seen a lot of Jarry. At least 75% of the criticism he gets is undeserved.
When he's healthy, he's an above average starter. Those health concerns are there, but they're being greatly exaggerated IMO. The alternatives were either not starter caliber goalies, or would cost an arm and a leg.
Jarry's contract is fine and I think he's going to prove a lot of people wrong.

I personally think the Ryan Reaves signing was the most ridiculous I've seen so far. He's a tough guy, but that's pretty much it. I would understand if it were for a year…give Toronto some more grit for a playoff run. But 3 years, 4.05 million? Lmao. How he got that type of money and term is laughable. He's straight robbing the Toronto organization. He's a liability in like every facet of the game, aside from dropping the gloves.
I thought the Soucy, Sheary and Clifton deals were pretty good. Killorn, though he's still a solid player, is a bit of a headscratcher at over 6 million a year for the next 4 years until his age 37 season, but maybe he can continue the production from this year for the next few years.
Leafs will never win a cup until they get new owners.

That Korpisalo contract is really tough to digest seeing how steep it is. It could be one of the worst if he still has the injury bug and doesn't perform up to standard. Guess we will see how he fares in Ottawa's defensive system.

Hot take-Iyla and Varly were bargained as an unbreakable tandem. Their agent is a genius. If the Isles wanted Iyla, they had to take Varly and give him a decent contract. Wouldn't surprise me if Iyla even took a little less to ensure Varly stayed with him.
Iyla could've went on the free market next year for more money. He wants to stay in the NYC area with his adopted family/network which includes Varly. He probably could've gotten 10+ from the Devils and still stayed in the area.
Iyla said during clean out the other guys on the team don't talk to him. Said he only converses with Varly and Romanov. Probably bc of the language barrier but still BS. Lou knew they had to keep Iyla's friend and mentor to keep Iyla. Now Lou probably did push back for the sake of cap space and negotiated the 4 years as opposed to say giving Varly 4 million for 2 years. Just my opinion.
Honestly surprised there isnt more hype behind the Duchene signing. A team in its playoff contention prime and a point per game player siging low short term is dream match up
I don't quite see that letting a player walk after his contract expires as dodging the bullet . However if you want to ok . The Devils letting Wood walk after his contract expired wasn't nearly as big as the year before when they let Subban walk 😂😂😂

Barry Trotz is a moron. We should have packaged together our picks for a big time player. We didn't. Instead of taking Oliver Moore or the guy that scored like 70 goals (forget the name) we take Wood. Who is solid but still. Then our 2nd 1st Rd pick was just dumb. If you like him he would have still been there in the 2nd or 3rd rd.
Then we cut the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team in Duchene. With all our young talent coming along we could have been real contenders in 2 years. Maybe sooner. And to beat it all we get no compensation? Like how? You telling me couldnt get better than NOTHING for both Duchene and Johansen???!!! This has been a complete DISASTER!!!

As a Montreal fan I hate having to say this but mad respect for the Leafs signings they solved some of there problems in signing players like Domi and Bertuzzi 👏👏👏
I like Woods, he's a noticeable player who works hard. I've watched a lot of Bruins vs Devils. I'd take him over JT who they just loss.
