It would have been Wade Belak’s birthday today and he would have been 47 today. One of the toughest players I’ve ever seen lace up a pair of skates and unfortunately lost the never-ending fight with depression in 2011. Being someone that fights that same battle with depression and anxiety, it always gave me hope that even those that we perceive to be the toughest can also be fighting those same battles in the trenches with us as well. Stay cool Leaf fans!

May he rest in peace.
For a second there, I thought someone wanted to appreciate Holl…
I’ll definitly be screwing this quote up, but Pat Quinn once said he was the Leafs best backwards skater. Truly a great person too, and one of the players that I looked up to as a kid.

If he were alive, he would of put up 40 goals, 30 assist, 100 points.
Tough as nails and a great human. Rest In Peace Wade.
He lived in my neighbourhood. Was at McDonalds and my kid was playing in the kids area and I look over and Belak is standing right beside me.
Seemed like a decent guy.
you had to post a pic of him in one of the shittiest jerseys this team has ever worn? cmon
I read somewhere he was a metal guy. RIP.

*stick taps* RIP Wade!
He may rest in peace, but his chirps will live on! π
I feel this. Turning 51. And having a tough time. Anyone who doesn’t get what Wade ended up doing hasn’t been there…and not even close. Love to his family. And the rest of you who loved him as one of our guys.
Be kind to people. Even if it feels like they are or really ARE awful to you. Or nonchalant. Or dismissive. You just truly never ever know what someone else is going through.
Be good and kind. Even if you feel someone doesn’t deserve your grace in that moment. Because even you can make a difference. At such an absolutely crucial point in time…
It costs you nothing if you think about things in this way. You can possibly even make a meaningful difference. It can be win-win if you choose to make it so.
I know it takes a ton to bring someone back from the brink. The very least we can do is not to pile on…
That stick was the best stick i ever used
Toronto still misses you Wade. Rest easy !
Poor guy needed a spotter
