  1. Just shows that Stan Bowman was a genius to trade him because Chicago was not going to give him that term or amount, and we got the better player in the deal too so. I think this will come back to bite Arizona

  2. Showing my age by knowing who Dave Bolland is.
This is way over but they can afford it, being Arizona. Maybe Schmaltz can prove us wrong. But I'm still bullish on the Coyotes.

  3. You have a cat named Bear. I have a cat named Burr.
    She doesn't listen either. 🙂

  4. I swear if Stan Bowman doesn't resign DeBrincat, Bowman will go down in history as the worst GMs in NHL history passing Chiarelli and Milbury.

  5. If you think this is overpaid you didn’t watch him play at all this year.

Schmaltz is a dynamic forward and better than William Nylander.

This is a bargain deal- signed

    A caps fan.

  6. What this contract says to me more than anything else, is you have to overpay players to play in Arizona!

  7. Schmaltz is a guy Arizona had been targeting for a while. I imagine they thought he was worth this much when they decided to trade for him, and those 17 games just reinforced that.

  8. So they are basically paying him the money Bolland was taking up on the cap. We tend to think of these contracts in terms of this year's cap. With the cap projected to go up, however, 5.8 won't seem like much in the last few years.

  9. Keller was better before Schmaltz got injured. For me, that's reason enough for this contract. And a reason for optimism…the Coyotes have the potentialto be really strong down the middle next year, with Scmaltz, Stepan, Dvorak, and either Hayton or Richardson (if Hayton is ready, it might be time for Richardson to move to wing).

The future is brighter than some think in AZ. The Coyotes are doing a great job of generating interest in the community (especially among kids with their giveaways of street hockey equipment), and the on-ice product has been much better.

  10. Keller, schmalts, galchenyuk, stepan, hinastrosa, grabbner, not bad but no super star means no room for error. They all need to play great to have success

  11. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I strongly believe Chayka is an overrated GM. I think this whole analytics thing hasn’t really made him an intimidating team. I will admit though that he found some gems in goaltending. But I don’t look at this team and say they will contend in a few years.

  12. Here´s a videotopic for you. Top 5 or 10 teams that are the most frequent on the "no trade to" list.

  13. i think bc hayton will most likely come in and play 3C next season, and will probably have 1 PK and 2 PP lines, their top6 looks fine with Keller-Dvorak-Panik
    Galchenyuk-Stephan-Hinnestroza
it’s not perfect but it’s perfectly fine for their division

  14. I loved Schmaltz as a Hawk, apart from all the times he'd try making an extra pass instead of taking a shot during a great shot opportunity. I think this is a good deal for Arizona, and while the money is a bit much right now, I honestly think he could make himself worth it. He's got lots of potential, and room to grow, he just needs to be more confident in his shooting. He's a great passer and playmaker, but he focuses on that sometimes too much when he should be getting the puck to the net. I feel like that is a minor problem, and he could fix that easily. Especially playing with some of the talent that AZ has.

I feel like if Arizona can decide if he should probably play center or wing, and stay with it, as well as stay healthy, he could really except. He kept moving from wing to center and back in his time in Chicago. Neither Quenneville or Colliton could figure out what position worked best for him.

  15. It's Simple, you have to overpay even " maybe, could be, potentially" decent players to stay in Arizona.
