I’m sure they wanted him, they just preferred Leo Carlsson, and that doesn’t surprise me whatsoever. I personally would have picked Leo at 2, but we’re talking like a very slight edge, almost a coin flip type pick. Being 2nd or 3rd in this draft was basically a negligible difference IMO.

I think they wanted a guy like Leo because Zegras needed a babysitter. Cant have 2 guys failing michigans all season, Leo isnt that kind of player.

He’s starting straight into my soul!

I’m guessing there were some perceived issues with attitude and leadership. Leo seems advanced for his age. It could be another Puljujarvi type situation.

Fantilli made it clear to his handlers he would not report to the Ducks if they drafted him.

Surprised and disappointed, but I’ve moved on. As management explained, they preferred the high IQ player and that was apparently Carlsson.

Shocked because he looks like Adam Banks

This is why they shouldn’t schedule team pictures and prostate exams at the same time.

On some scouting reports Fantilli was #1, Carlsson wasn’t anyone’s #1. We’ll find out in the next few years whether the ducks got it right

Let’s not overlook the fact that neither Adam nor Leo would’ve gone 2nd if it wasn’t for a KHL contract

Fantilli seemed like he didn’t want the Ducks. When the Ducks got 2nd pick in the lottery he was talking about doing another year of school. Now that Columbus ended up taking him, he’s signed a contract with them right away
Silly_Ad_1636
Quack-tastic move by the Ducks, Fantilli must be quacking with excitement elsewhere!
Constant-Squirrel555
They didn’t want that killer instinct that he brings along

I’ll never be surprised when a front office takes a big center over the smaller one. Fantilli is incredible, 1st OA most years. An interesting choice for sure.

ol’ crazy eye’d Fantilli

Definitely! Ducks missed out big time! Quack-quack, Fantilli would have been ducky on their team! 😂

Has anyone thought that they passed on him due to the fact that he outright said he wanted to go to CBJ? Maybr they dont want a player who wants to be somewhere else.
