[In this article](https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/bigger-heavier-pk-guys-canucks-kick-off-free-agency-by-prioritizing-depth/), Allvin is quoted as saying:
>“It made me really happy that so many players expressed their interest to come to Vancouver, and most based on (coaches) Rick Tocchet and (Sergei) Gonchar and (Adam) Foote (and) what I’ve done with the players up to this point. **There was some hard discussions and decisions this morning to turn down some other players that expressed to want to be here**.
Of course we’ll never know, but if you had to guess, who do you think he might be talking about?

Well could be literally anyone but if u wanna try narrowing it down id start with players who are/were ufas and either:
-Are friends with one of our current players
-Played with one of our players on an iihf national team this summer
-Played under tocchet in AZ
-Are russian (bc of Gonchar and the great things our russian players have been saying ab him), or
-Played for Pitsburg during the Alvin/Rutherford era
SETH JONES
No idea
Duchene
Tyler Bertuzzi
Sorry OEL with the disguise.
Lucic 🤣
My guess is Debrincat. His agent apparently gave Ottawa a list of teams he would accept a trade to.
Jim Benning he is lacing them back up
It’s OEL, guys. He feels bad.
I wonder about Dumoulin. I thought for sure he’d be a Canuck (Rutherford drafted him in Carolina and was his GM in Pittsburgh when he signed his big contract)
He fits our needs well, but is 3 years older than Soucy and was likely seeking for term.
After Vancouver didn’t express mutual interest, he pivoted and chose the next-closest in Seattle.
Just a theory, though
Bear.
Our d looks so much better this is a good team now now lol.
Allvin pumping his own tires to attract talent.
Benning wanting to lace them up again…
Probably no one exciting. Players that would be depth pieces
I imagine he’s talking about some of our unsigned free agents. Burroughs, Bear, etc.
Maybe O’Reilly? Could make sense that Alvin didn’t want to commit to the term. Or even more possible could be Luke Schenn for the same reason and also dollars.
Vancouver is an attractive destination for players who look at the past near decade. Come to town, make a half ass effort, no playoffs so no extra work load, leave town with a fat cheque in their pockets. Easy work.
Better than “We ran out of time” era.
John Cena!!!
